Well I took my one back that i got 2 weeks ago that was a bit odd with DVD+R and got £85 refund - then bought another fer £68

Quality from Telewest box is excellent when recording so it's a bit geeky going on about RGBs imo

It certainly does. I bought one yesterday, and have already discovered that it happily plays stuff that my Crystal DIVX Player from Aria refused to even consider playing.

    Quality bargain.

  • just bought one of these tonight from local asda aintree , i've already got a sony dvd recorder that cost about £400 but on seeing this post i thought i'd buy a second recorder for the spare room. ( i've got a second sky box in the spare room )

the box says it records to dvd+r / dvd+rw

the one i bought is recording to dvd-r as we speak !

not sure if it will burn to dvd-rw as i don't have any of these discs

just thought it might clarify the format issue with these recorders

    hth !
  • Doh !

    sorry folks

just seen this info in a previous post

    apologies

It might be geeky, but it might also be important to some people, especially those with larger TVs, and you can buy a RGB capable unit for a few £££ more.

Still, at less than £70, it's got to be a fine buy especially with a firewire input for a DV camcorder. Just thought I'd throw in some more technical geekery for you ;)

Mine won't play Divx burnt to cd, and it sounds like a helicopter is in the room when playing DVD's. Junk as far as I'm concerned, back to asda tomorrow.
    No links in signatures please.
  • If I was you I would consider picking up another one and giving it another go, mine plays divx on a cd, well while watching a film tonight I did not realize that helicopters were that quiet ???? I think you must have a faulty one.
