Afternoon all :hello: Hugs to everyone!

DD is back this afternoon about 3.30ish (train permitting) so I'm trying to get things sorted by 3.15 so I can walk up and meet her and ex at the station (not enough time between their train arriving and his return one for him to walk her here and get back again).

I've made a decision. Since I am planning on moving house ASAP (all depending on how long Wigan Housing take to process my application - being dropped off in person Wednesday in theory - and then agree to a property  ) I'm going to do a major sort/chuck, clean repair/decorate where I need to in each room : AKA "Holiday Grand Plan" from organizedchristmas. ;) So in edition to Pigpens list (basic level 1 with the occasional level 2 I think), I'll have my own for each week or so for each room. Also on that list is the winter prep I need to do (like putting thicker curtains up) as I have no idea how long we will be stuck here for. Oh and I start my training on the 8th so I have 2 weeks to get some of it done, and only next week to get the charity shop stuff off there - day bus pass I think for that one and a few trips

So in edition to doing a mountain of washing (washing new curtains and school uniform as well as the normal washing), I'm going to get my lists written. :D Wash load 3 in now, the rest is waiting on DD coming home so I can wash what she's taken with her, although I may wash the towels next. But first, I need to go and wash some dishes and clear up the desk. Back with my lists later

Valli maybe Im being not looking properly-but how do I make up the stardrops mix?

I have a spicy chicken and sausage stew on in sc-DF favorite. DS did not eat, well he did by his standards. Gave him a sandwich with ham and tom sauce and a bit of green on. Tossed all out-rubbed tom off on table and scoffed the bread:rolleyes: What to do? Having said that he's now playing happily with his garage and Im going through the old magazines and taking out what I want to keep and recycle box for the rest-this starts the junk within a drawer.
  • Hmm just spent 10 mins posting a reply, decided to update sig before posting and lost the whole thing! Lesson learnt!
Well, feeling sad that I'm flying on a BH Monday but the weather in sunny E Anglia is not conducive to going out and about! Kids are cool, DD is playing with a friend and DS is watcing yet more rubbish American TV - getting his fill beofre I cancel the evil Sky when they go back in September - what a horrid mum I am! but £240 a year could be much better spent!

Anyhow here's the result for today - the lists give me so much encouragement as I hate housework but a challenge appeals to me!

Monday Melee - Living Room, Hall and Stairs
    Level 1
[STRIKE]Vacuum through the living room, hall and stairs
    [/STRIKE]
    Level 2
    [STRIKE]Dusting, even if around everything
    [/STRIKE]
and moved the ornaments etc too!

[STRIKE]Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean windows and all glass.. including the tv screen
[/STRIKE] windows done last week anyway

Wash any soft furnishings that need it - have to attack the curtains - large pair on patio door and window pair - so need to be sure I can dry them before tackling that one!
    Level 3
Open a drawer.. sort the junk within! hmm still to do!
[STRIKE]15 minutes sort of the junk on the landing!
    [/STRIKE] none!

[STRIKE]Vacuum under furniture you can manage to move without hurting yourself
    [/STRIKE]
Extra Mission: Pick one or more of the following tasks –
    1. Water and wipe any plants -none[STRIKE]
    2. Wipe down any paintwork that needs it.
    3. Binbag dance.. Get a binbag.. fill it and bin it!!! [/STRIKE]
    4. Clear out the cupboard under the stairs - one step too far on a BH monday!
Also made bramble jelly, un/loaded DW and wm (isn't gloop fantastic! no more blackberry stains or mud from camp!), quick shop for milk and bog rolls - GC still looking good! and washed the dyson filters yeuch!
So now I'm off to chill for a while with a cuppa and a twink hobnob - yumm! before a quick HHG weather permitting and then looking up the recipe for sweet n sour chicken for tea - major persusion needed for the kids to eat this - but if I bought it from a takeaway they wouldn't complain! why?!!

Have a chilled afternoon and evening one and all!

Serena - good to hear DS back safe and is on the mend

AnW - have a wonderful trip to NY

Polka - good luck with quitting smoking

Tash - hope your DB continues to improve

DeniseNZ - hope results for your MIL's x-ray are OK and she continues to get better.

Tia - not sure if I'm a week out but if it is this week, hope the opening goes well and good luck with the business

Needed to get loads done today but got up to find water was a mere dribble so no washing, no shower, no cleaning. No excuses now though as back on about an hour ago, of course weather is now looking dodgy and I have just put the washer on.

I know I can quite easily make the house look ok by Wednesday (for OH) but we have friends here on Saturday night and a daytime family party here in less than 3 weeks and it will not stand up to a close inspection. I need to stop being a lazy unmotivated slob and do something. I'm over-whelmed by the task in hand so I think I'm going to have to do a giant list with all the tasks broken down so it is easier to cross things off and keep motivated. Is there a limit to how long a post can be? And that is a serious question.
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

Sorry, I joined at the beginning of last week then didn't post any more! DH is off work for 2 weeks and I persuaded him to help me with a major clear up. He has started sorting the garage and garden and I have had a major declutter. I am really pleased as the house looks so much tidier.

We are now in the process of putting the skirting boards in the back room (haven't been any there for 2 years  Just an ugly rough holey bit of wall!)
    Looking fantastic!

    Serena: Glad DS is ok.

Can I now ask a daft question? How do you cross through the items you have done on the list IYKWIM?
:)Do more of what makes you happy:)

Mine don’t go back until Tues 9th Sept – in Derbyshire Friday 5th has been recommended as an INSET day; at their school they bring Y7, Y10 in on the Monday – the rest on the Tuesday! Roll on half term! So AnW’s mum – you’re not the only one! Where are you?

They are having an inset day on the Monday here hence the Tues start for them all. We are literally just in Derbyshire, right on the border with Notts and S Yorks! Drive out of the village in 3 directions and straight into the next county. We have a Sheffield post code and phone number but the highest C Tax in the country (as far as I can remember) Where in Derbyshire are you?
