dusty - I know what you mean, but day to day they do need to learn to amuse themselves. I have just spent two days playing with my granddaughter, but I never spent much time playing with my own two sons. That's what is so nice about being a nana!
pollybear - that sounds like quite a workout! Don't exhaust yourself!!0 -

And I have visited you on Facebook - guessing, using locations, as to who some of you are!
Am now awaiting the boys in blue as DS has come home, telling me that he, and the two friends he was with, were threatened on the local park by a gang who demanded his bike - their theory is they picked on DS because he's the biggest. No injuries sustained, just a flippin puncture (again) but I thought it best to inform the police, as the 'gang' was 6 or 7 strong! Now they are all on my back garden too worried to go out - but the police will want to talk to them anyway, apparently. Now I am worrying that this might be an over the top reaction on my part - but then do I want my son not to feel safe when he is out - in broad daylight? They were chased - ooh it's all too much.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Jinky - if you've had a headache for that long it sounds as if you need to take some painkillers, drink lots of water and go back to bed. If it isn't gone by the morning, call NHS direct or your GP. You certainly shouldn't be doing any housework.
Polkadot - I have neighbours like this too - at one point they had their tumble dryer upstairs and the sound and vibrations travelled through the floorboards and drove me nuts! They annoy the whole street! No one consults them about anything anymore, as they don't seem to be bothered about the effect they have on other people. I find putting up shelves at about 5.30am very satisfying - I do try to limit my childish revenge to things that won't affect my other neighbours
Serena - so pleased to hear you found DS safe and well. I hope you've recovered from the stress.
I have to say, like Polkadot I've found this really does work. After the last 3 weeks, I've finally managed to reduce my hotspots to two pretty small piles. Today hardly took any time at all - now I can sit at my kitchen table, I don't need to eat in other rooms. I always wondered why my mum had rules about no food & drink outside the kitchen, now I knowEven though I've been stuck in the house since Tuesday, whereas I normally leave at 6.30am and get back around sometime between 7 & 9pm (which is a pretty good way of avoiding making a mess!), it really does seem that by clearing up as you go along, and focussing on the rest for a few minutes at a time, the mess and dirt can be kept under control. The thread is a great support - it really helps to see how others are doing.
Next challenge is to tame the garden, which looks like a hayfield with large clumps of bindweed round the edges...0 -
valli - I hope the police deal with the situation. It really makes my blood boil that decent kids like your DS and his friends are intimidated and the little s**ts get away scot free:mad:  :mad:0

Hope you get it sorted Valli, they should not be allowed to get away with that kind of thing. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Can I be a new flylady? I've only just found this thread, and I usually HATE housework, but you lot have got me motivated! I love the whole idea! I know it's late in the day, and i'm out all day tomorrow so I might have to double up on Wednesday, but is that allowed? I'm trying to declutter and sort all my stuff as I'm moving out of my parents into a flat with my boyfriend in a few weeks so I'm going to have to start really trying with housework!Chifundo Uzuri Siochain"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost" - JRR Tolkien~

Well, apparently there has been an 'incident' and arrests so it will be the 'Safer Neighbourhood' team that come out to us tomorrow now and I have to tell them that this intimidation is not acceptable (or so the bobby who spoke to me on the phone said. He also told me not to allow them to 'fob me off' - methinks there are different priorities at work in the constabulary.) I am trying not to worry the boys - but I'm thinking ahead to Sept when they are coming home from school...so maybe a visit from a bobby might make some people aware that this is not acceptable - apparently one of the 'gang' was from their school! Mind you I had to phone Notts police who phoned Derbys who called me back because the non emergency number wouldn't work and I was not prepared to ring 999!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Well.. the undercoat is dry.. so I'm putting the grubs to bed and cracking on with the gloss.. crazy crazy crazy... Then tomorrow I can slap about some emulsion.. that will be done in no time and I'll have a posh room when hubby gets back.. he is expecting it finished when he gets back so he can install the fire surround and bung up the curtain pole and order new doors, and a crappet.
Everyone is fed.. bag of 50 party sausage rolls, 2 tins of new potatoes and a bag of frozen vegetable rice.. meal fit for ... obese people! but they are fed and happy.. followed by smartie, chocolate and vanilla ice cream. I had 5 tiny potatoes and the last of yesterdays savoury mince.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
