.....Step-dad and little bro went to a leicester tiger open day, and they met quite a few england rugby players so they are both very happy!! ....
So does that mean that Leicester Tigers have lots of players in the England squad....? It can be very good for the club, but also very bad if anyone gets injured or all those top players are unavailable for Premiership fixtures...Sale Sharks had that 2 seasons ago - I think we had 7 players in the England squad & only just managed to avoid relegation.... as Floss ponders the Sale Sharks v Leicester Tigers fixtures & sneakily wishes they were during the Six Nations and Autumn Internationals!

Hi Floss, sounds like you had a good couple of days.
DD is improved today, although the next event will be the switch on, on Friday. Hints have already been dropped.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

So she's a closet Boyzone fan then? Or is it Jezzer or The Hamster?? I keep hearing things at work about the way it is going to happen - the directors were closeted with the Chief Exec last week discussing what will happen, don't know any more yet.....most annoying thing is that DF & I won't be here  as we'll be in Derbyshire with a houseful of friends  so we'll miss it for about the third year
oh well, are you out for Ride The Lights on Tuesday?0 -
Hello All
Some of you might recall DH's legendary meatballs and vegetable leftover burgers ... which are fast becoming our staple food along with whatever bread rolls happen to be reduced when I visit the supermarket!
It's months since I even showed my face on this thread and I've only recently got back into the grabbit and special occasions threads - but I feel the need to come back to your bosom and join in with the monthly grocery challenges again.
We've saved so much as a family since we discovered MSE earlier in the year and have a whole new approach to grocery shopping and making the most of things. We've made some progress but things have been far from comfy.
In the past three months or so, owing to much unhappiness, we've taken the financially overbearing decision to move our children to an independent school. The extension has been cancelled and we're desperately waiting for the mortage company to confirm extra borrowing ready for 2009's fees. The sums involved are way beyond a bit of economising here and there - but for reasons I shan't begin to explain we felt this was our only option.
Are there other MSE-ers who send their children 'private'? I'm already paranoid about having to keep one 'best' outfit for taking them to school and parties etc!
That aside, please can I come back? I got so much motivation and direction from you all before I got sidetracked by earning money (!) earlier in the year nd I could really do with it now.

Evening all from a very quiet house, DS had gone to his Dad's for a week so tonight is my first night alone in our new house  I will be ok but it will take some getting used to, shame I don't know the neighbours very well or I might have invited myself around theirs for a while! Still I start my new job on Tue so that will take my mind off it!
Have done the ironing today and some washing which is drying on the airer, not raining at the moment but it was earlier.
Hugs to all those who need one, I have plenty spare with DS away!!
Right off to go and rattle around the house a bit more, I feel like a spare part :rotfl:0 -

Jezzer & The Hampster for her.
I saw the signs about Ride The Lights, but my bike needs a [STRIKE]lot[/STRIKE] bit of work to get it on the road.
Although there does seem to be a lot of plotting going on, so I think she may well still be grounded.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Of course you can come back  I'll add your post to today's Daily Thread, which is the very best place for motivation

evening all!
hope you are feeling better soon pen-pin. how exciting for your daughter...and for you to see her too.
feeling very smug here. got lots done today. weather brightened up so got lots of washing done. all the towels etc which I kept putting back in the basket because I didn't want to dry indoors. been shopping for all the bits and bobs I forgot yesterday. sorted out the ironing pile...didn't iron itbut its looking smaller now.
deep cleaned kitchen, downstairs loo, and I tackled the hall cupboard...nightmare job. but now two sets of golf clubs which were cluttering up the cloakroom are safely out of sightwhat a lot of rubbish was in there. so I have two black bags to take to recycling tomorrow. in between all that fixed neighbours burst eyebrow (had walked in to something in garden), looked for weekend break,....goodness, feeling tired now
now watching reading festival on bbc3 with little glass of winex x x0 -
Hello All

This is my first post on the OS board so I hope I'm not being presumptious
Our children went to private school and I readily admit it was a struggle, but don't be afraid to look out for second-hand uniforms at the end-of-year open days. Our kids school had a thriving trade in them on that one day a year and I was amongst the first to arrive every year.
I, too, had one special outfit which was whipped out every Open Day for 8 years. I just hoped no-one recognized it from year to year, but to be honest I don't think I care now if they did. We did what we had to do to make our children happy and grounded individuals and I'm sure you're doing the same.
The other kids went skiing 3 or 4 times a year whereas ours made do with a caravan holiday once or twice (depending how flush we were) but they made some good friends and the snobs were ignored. One of the best things was the fact that there were children there from all around the world, every culture and every colour - it made for a very racially equal society.
There were problems there just as there are in any school, the difference was that the staff jumped on bullying etc immediately it was reported and it was nipped in the bud.
All in all DH and I have never regretted the sacrifices and the children have all turned out happy and contented - what more could you ask?I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hi Scotrae, you will no doubt find that lots of the other mums work to pay for school fees etc. Yes there are those who drive the big fancy cars, but I find that they all want the best for their kids. Good luck and if the kids are happy it's a huge bonus and worth every penny.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
