    What a flamin nightmare!

After ringing back again another 2 times and being passed from pillar to post they are now telling me that I cannot change the order all they can do is cancel and charge me for it :( This is BT

Did they tell you about the rolling contract? If not then don't accept it. Tell them you were missold and you just found out about it and you want it changed or you'll take it further.

No they didnt tell me but how can they charge me to canel an order I only want it changing

On the phone again hes left me on hold to cancel the order but now hes saying the date will change for installation so that means I will have to alter skys again. He didnt say anything about charging me but I'll ask him when he comes back. They really dont like it if you say you want to use sky or someone else for broadband or calls
    Thanx

Now cancelled, he didnt say anything about charging me, its going in a day later unfortunately so now I'm waiting again on the sky phoneline to re-arrange that installation.

It takes a long time to go from the bt line installation to changing over to sky for calls and getting the the broadband in they said its about 2 weeks after the bt line has been put in. Not so bothered about the phone but they really need the internet for keeping check on bank and things. Anyway not a lot can be done about that but will have to call them as soon as bt line is in anyway rather than wait the 5 days they are saying just in case its posible to hurry them up.
    Thanx

Sky said it will be ok to keep the installation date the same which is the same date and same time slot as bt is installing. She said I can tell the technician that it is an 'awaiting telephone provider installation' I sure hope nothing goes wrong with this.

Don't forget to check tomorrow or Thursday with BT to make sure he's now ordered what you want.

I cant believe I only just realised that the broadband for the £17 package is 2mb with 2gb usage I thought it was unlimited. They didnt want the mobile broadband as it was restricted usage so this isnt going to be enough for them I'm sure. Are sky strict on the 2gb usage or is it worth swapping to the mid one? It jumps from £17 a month with 1 sky mix 2mb to all 6 mixes and 40gb usage cant they have just the 1 mix and mid broadband?

Also does anyone know how far from the phone socket the wireless router can be as they want the sky+ in one room and the router in another if posible as they are not sure how the wirelress will cope because the house has thick stone walls.
    Thanx

  • You can do it. I just did on the Sky website.
    1mix @£17
    Mid broadband @£5
    And your BT rental @ £10.50 = £32.50 x12 = £390/year
    With O2 it would be £12.50+ £10.50=£23/month x12 = £276/yr
but you would have no refund of the line instal. But you still don't know if you can put a dish up and if you can't Sky falls flat.

Yes its £390 a year but they also charged £30 installation fee when I placed the order. I'm not sure if thats for everyone but as they are crediting the bt instal I didnt say anything.

Were toying witrh the idea today to cancel and have o2 and go with the bt direct reduced installation of £30 instead but with an 18 month contract as that would work out cheaper but no tv but anyway they have decided to stick with sky now then decide after the 12 months if to stay or move to o2 then.

They can put a dish up they asked the landlord, a previous tennant had sky in before so that is ok. They want the sky+ in a different room though to the phone socket so they are just going to have to put up with a long cable from the tv for 12 months. Will 1 phone socket be enough for the tv, phone and broadband modem router?

Will there be an activation fee when they get the broadband?
    Thanx
