Did you not sign a 12 month renewable contract with BT for the Evening and Weekend Calls?
Its worth noting that if you keep your line rental with BT and place your calls through Sky.
your no longer be able to use the 1280 prefix (which used to allow CPS users to 'hop back onto BT' for calls for which BT is cheaper - such as 0845 and 0870 calls at certain times) and they will pass the call via its own network at its dearer rates.0 -
I rang sky and they told me that I only need the line rental with bt without any calling plan so sky take charge of the calls or it might effect my sky see speak surf offer and I would get a charge for the broadband connection, having said that another sky customer services lady told me that bt would be doing my calls so I don't know who is right.
So I rang BT back not about my order but just the sales line to see what they would say before interfering with my order yet. The bt man said they are throwing in the evening and w/e calls free anyway so there is no line rental only. I said I didnt want a call plan as I was going on the sky see speak and surf and didnt want to break my bt contract. He told me that it doesnt break the contract with bt as sky just route the calls through them.
I don't know what to do now at allThanx

At the moment yes it is due to be installed with a new contract and the free thrown in evening and we calls, I didnt even know about the 1280 prefix what are cps users?
Only thing is if the calls go through bt I will lose the sky offerThanx

Best thing so that you dont lose the Sky Offer to pay your BT Connection charge, and you dont have a renewable call contract with BT, is to cancel free evening and weekend calls with BT if you still can without penalty ,and just take their free weekend geographical calls.
CPS = Carrier Pre Select where the line rental is with BT but your calls are with another supplier, you normally could use the 1280 code to place your calls via BT to take advantage of their cheaper calls in some cases. Sky have now blocked this.0 -
opt out of the free call plan from bt if you dont want it, because part of the terms and conditions is at the end of the 12month contract, they automatically enter you into a new 12 month contract because of the free call plan they give you.
they send this letter that tells u this after the lines installed.0 -
Isnt the weekend calls still classed as a calling plan?
I've just rang sky back again and this customer service person said it wont make any difference I'm getting different answers from each customer service operator. There must be loads of people going on the sky speak surf as new customers they must know about itThanx

It does make a difference because your have a rolling contract for a BT package you want be able to use. When you go to cancel the BT line at a later date BT will charge for the remainder of the rolling contract. Best to get rid of it i without penalty otherwise the next opportunity to do so will be in 11 months time.
BT,s T&C are very clear on this matter.I quote
"At the end of each 12 month minimum period the contract will be automatically renewed for a further 12 month minimum period unless you tell us otherwise. We will write to remind you when your contract is nearing the end of the renewable period. You cannot downgrade during the minimum period or any renewable minimum period. If you cease service during the minimum period or any renewable period a termination charge will apply."0 -
As BT have not installed yet, your contract hasn't begun. Ring them and tell them you don't want evenings and WE and you just want LINE RENTAL ONLY. With this you will get free we anyway. Then next day ring them again and check what your order is just to make sure you are getting what you want. Sky seem pretty clear that you don't have to have line rental with them anyway so no problem there.
The other thing is if no dish is allowed sky isn't such a bargain because you'll only be getting broadband from them (using mobiles for calls). Then O2 could be a better bet especially if their mobiles are on O2, and if not when their mobile contract ends they could change to O2 and get broadband for £7.50.0 -
What a flamin nightmare!
After ringing back again another 2 times and being passed from pillar to post they are now telling me that I cannot change the order all they can do is cancel and charge me for itThis is BT
Thanx
