    Morning!

I was out in the evening yesterday so brought 2 HM meals to work - one for lunch, one for dinner. My colleagues teased me at first for eating my evening meal at my desk, but then ridicule turned to jealousy and they all started drooling over my sausage and bacon pasta bake!:rotfl: I jokingly offered to make them all HM food as well - though I hope they don't think I was serious cos I can't see my housemate taking kindly to me monopolising our tiny kitchen (in HIS house) even more than I already do! Could be a nice little sideline though in theory - lets say one of those meals works out at 60-70p a portion for ingredients, I could sell them for £2.50... :rotfl:

Out again this evening so I've got another 2 HM meals with me (I've got free press tickets to see Madam Butterfly and am taking my colleague who has never been to an opera before).

    Have a good day :D

Meals like that sell in the cafe round here (for takeaway) at £3.50!! It amazes me that people actually buy them.

Although ive run out now, I usually make a lasagne and spaghetti bolognese and freeze them in the plastic chinese-like containers (you can get a pack of 5 for 79p in Wilkinsons), and a lasagne makes 6 portions, and the spaghetti bolognese, usually 4-5 (and this is using 1 packet of mince for all).......... Perhaps I'll do this at the weekend, as its something that freezes well, and is a nice HM meal that I can just throw in the microwave if I dont have time/cant be bothered to cook.

What other things do you freeze? Some things do freeze well, others not so well. Plus, is it ok to freeze tuna? That is one thing I am not too keen on cooking as so many people I know have got food poisoning from it.!!

    Enjoy the opera. xx
  • Im making spag bol for dinner and will be able to freeze at least 2 good sized portions :D thats with half bag of minced lamb and bulked out with toms, mushrooms and baked beans
I also freeze shepards pie/lasagna/stews/curries/chillies etc etc.

    PP
    xx

It's VERY cold here today too. Front door is wide open as is the back, plumbers trudging back and forth with bits of old boiler, some of which they have collaged the top of my freezer with so I now can't get in there to make anything for dinner. I plan to wait until they go off for lunch and then sneak in, prise the lid open about a quater of an inch and tempt five chicken breasts to make a dash for freedom.
The washing still sits in the machine cos it lives next to the boiler and they have drapped it in some sort of jute sacking so that is out of bounds as well. The only thing that is still warm (an accesable) is the kettle. Cuppa anyone?

Yippee!! Some good news this morning after all. After DH coming home this morning and telling me that last months overtime sheets had not been dealt with so we were unlikely to see the results of 50 hours of overtime until after christmas :( (That's the christmas fund well and truly stuffed then) I received the gas bill this morning.

We were £166 in credit and that was before this months payment went in! They are going to refund us £240 and cut our monthly payment down to £40 a month. That means with the cut in the electricity as well I have reduced our monthly fuel bills by £55.50!!!! Combine that with the £45 a month I'm saving by taking the stuff out of storage and that is £100 a month saved.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

    F U Fund currently at £250
  • Well Done you!!!!!

I think you need a glass of champers too!!!

    WTG moggins!!! :T

I've just been Christmas shopping at Asda and I'm made up with my bargins. I can't post specifics due to recipients sometimes reading these boards but I managed to save £2.12 on multibuys and I've almost finished all my Christmas shopping :j £21 left in OH's budget, £13 in DDs, £15 worth of groceries to buy for my nanna and I need to pick up a jewellry box for MIL then I'm done :j:j:j I feel the need to go to town tomorrow and finish the shopping (except for the groceries) unless I can get some bargins on ebay. I need to get stocking fillers for OH  and we've decided to buy DD a video or DVD so I'm off to search ebay for a disney one she hasn't got ;)

Morning everyone :hello: ... or should I say afternoon, as we've passed midday whilst I was writing ;)

Just a quick post to let you all know I'm still in the land of the living ... just! ... and enjoying a brief hiatus from the deep dark hole I've been hiding away in again :o

I learned during my last absence here that cutting myself off from everyone doesn't help and just makes me feel even more isolated and depressed ... I've already successfully achieved that in my real life, so I don't really want to be doing it online too! ... so I hope no one minds me just popping in when I feel up to it for the time being. You're all a tremendous source of support, even if you don't realise it, and just reading some of the posts gives me inspiration and encouragement to keep going :T :A

I also want to say thanks for all the lovely messages and support you've sent, it certainly helps knowing I'm not alone here and there are people who understand what I'm going through :grouphug: :A

Couldn't have got through this last week without my youngest DS though, he's been fantastic :T ... and his cooking skills have come on in leaps and bounds as he's had to prepare our meals every day :o

He's learnt how to use the BM and tackled stuff like AussieLass's Impossible Quiche, HM soup, mackerel and grated cheese on toast  and made pasta/rice/couscous to go with meals from the freezer. In the past we've opted for take-aways when I've been too ill to cook, which are expensive and unhealthy, so I'm really pleased that despite everything we've still managed to eat cheaply and healthily :T

I'm feeling a bit more human having showered and changed this morning - an achievement in itself! :o - so I'm going to try and make our dinner today, which will be a surprise for him when he gets in from school, although I'm not sure what yet. Everything else will just have to wait a while longer ... one step at a time!

    Bye for now!
