Perhaps...what they have done is enter an extra number of letter to stop people using them? i.e. only they know the full code? I have no idea. Funny/strange!! Be interesting to figure out what they have done. Obviously (?) trying to stop people from sharing codes.....I don't know. If I do figure it out I'll post on here! I've tried omitting a couple of numbers/variations on the code but none work at the moment.

I wonder if anybody else has come across this situation that I faced last night in my local (Cannock) ASDA store?

As many of you will have done no doubt I printed off a coupon for the free 100g bar of 'Milka' chocolate. I got a load of shopping not just the free chocolate. I handed the coupon over and the assistant tried about 6 or 7 times to enter the code. She had to give up with a big queue starting to form and called a supervisor over. The supervisor took one look and stated that "we don't accept internet coupons". Odd, because I succesfully used the internet coupon for a free loaf only a few weeks ago in the very same store.

So, I want to know, is this new policy? The supervisor wouldn't say anymore (sad to say not exactly very customer friendly to be honest unlike the majority of staff in that store).

I shall be trying to contact ASDA but, being as this coupon expires in two days I'll try my local Morrisons store this morning.

    Take care.

as far as I know Milka coupons will not scan but they have to type in the value manually.
My local asda do not accept internet coupons (they say they had too much fraud), but an Asda about 3 miles away do accept them. i popped in there just 2 days earlier and they scanned them fine, no probs.

i do not think this is a new coupon policy, it just ranges from store to store

Yes, the checkout girl did try to manually input the coupon code. she didn't try scanning it at all. Yet, only a couple of weeks ago in the same sotre they accepted a home printed voucher for the free loaf of Hovis bread! So why one coupon but not another?

I have e-mailed their customer service department but I shall also ask to speak to the store manager as, at the moment, there does not seem to be a set policy. It is very embarrasing to be told in front of a long queue of customers that they "don't accept internet coupons". The tone was not pleasant and it was as if it was somehow fraudulent. Yet, my name is printed on the coupon and I used my credit card (with my name on it) to pay for the other items I had bought. As a family we actually spend around £200 in this store every single week.

    Take care.

ps. Morrisons don't appear to stock Milka at my local store :-(

    To update this thread.

I have now received a reply from Asda. All stores should accept any and all including internet coupons/vouchers. So, I was told incorrectly and ended up spending money I should not have done. Ok, I had the option of putting the chocolate back on the shelf. At the time I really fancied it so I paid for it. Of course, going back in last week there was no Milka left and on Sunday the voucher expired :( I shall ask to see the manager next time I am in store and ask what he intends doing about it. At the very least I expect a free bar of chocolate top honour the coupon that I was entitled to use.

It's the principle of it after all :)
