hmm, I don't know why they are shafting the BiNs. As a buyer, I haven't got the patience to wait 7 days for an auction to end.
Here's the price changes:
£0.99: WAS 10p + 7.5p FVF NOW 40p + 9.9p. Increase 42.4p (185% increase)
£9.99: WAS 25p + 75p FVF. Now 40p + 99p. Increase 39p (39% increase)
£29.99: WAS 50p + £2.25 FVF. Now 40p + £2.99. Increase 64p (23%)
£49.99: WAS £1 + £3.15 FVF. Now 40p + £4.95. Increase £1.20 (+30%)
£99.99: WAS £1 + £5.35 FVF. Now 40p + £7.95. Increase £2 (+31%)
£299.99: WAS £1.30 + £14.40 FVF. Now 40p + £19.75. Increase £4.45 (+28%)
£599.99: WAS £1.30 + £27.90 FVF. Now 40p + £37.45. Increase £8.65 (+30%)
It doesn't make sense to me to push sales towards auctions. I thought they were supposed to be competing with amazon and the like.0 -

I wonder how much the demise of QXL has added to this ?
Another competitor out of the way, so hike the prices up as the customers have less places to go to.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Not quite got my head around all these changes just yet, but there appears to be some other advantages to having a shop and other reductions too, apart from the visibility and link advantages that shops give.
Its interesting to see that this thread goes from someone saying Ebay is trying to get rid of auctions from its site to saying they are trying to get rid of fixed price items! They do manage to confuse people..0 -

The fixed price listing fee has changed for shop listings. So inventory format no longer exists and all shop owners can list items on buy it now for longer and smaller listing fees. Details here http://pages.ebay.co.uk/buyitnow08/newshops.html
Basic shop owners can list for 10p and 20p and featured shop owners for 5p.
All shop items will appear in search at all times.
Its something they've been tinkering with for some time and looks like this is what they have arrived at..0 -
Was just coming to post my disgust at these fees. What are thy playing at? I really really hope this shoots them in the foot and they lose a lot of custum. The amout of BIN itemas I have that are bought by US clients... if you're not selling items over £50 you get truly ripped off - even then its very bad!
I did try other sites but stuff never sold. Not enough publicity. If I ahd the money I would launch a rival for ebay with good marketing etc. Greed has got the better of them. I mean - whats the cost of running the site? They make a fortune!
Im going to go post all the <£15 items I have for sale before the change then thats it!Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
9.9% final value fee is beyond a joke.
I have listed less than half of what I listed last year.
Ebay needs competition as it is taking the !!!!!! now, a monopoly that is abusing it's powers is incredibly bad for consumers.0 -
Surely the competitons act needs to do something about this? Guess its hard when there is no competion as such...Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

Does anyone know if ebay.com (US version) is having major changes too?
Some sellers may be better off listing on .com0 -
Nothing like a bit of healthy competition for the big E when there's a small and rather cheap lsiting/auction service going at Ebid. With all these changes at ebay it's just getting ridiculous and bargains are very hard to come by, so I've spent some time putting everything I have up for sale on ebid - and it's cheaper, my cheap sale on ebay is/was £6.49 including postage but ebid I can just put it up for £5 including p&p. Hopefully once I've listed it I don't have to again because there's a wee button that says 'run until sold' which is a bonus. My clothes collection is going up first, then computer desk, ikea wardrobe, big rug, lcd screen, candles, possibly the fish tank etc etc - I am off to list the whole lot - once that's done it'd give me a chance to hunt out some bargains.
My point is while people are getting sick of ebay it just seems to be the easier option to go to the website, why doesn't everyone head to ebid first and use ebay as a last resort, after all it was the 'little' people that got it going in full swing and since then it's just snowballed into something else - any I found out the other day that ebay actually OWNS paypal - which I found more surprising, I really did think that they were two different companies.
For those sick of ebay - join ebid and tell your friends, let's build the next empire and hopefully they won't be another greedbay - never under-estimate the power of the people!
I also think that once your stuff is listed you can advertise it on another site to get hits such as gumtree or loot and I think if a fair few people do that the growth of the site won't take too long at all
What do you think about my little brainstorm? Has anyone got any thoughts on that?0
