Okay, simon, but it is not 'driving the 10 year old car' that makes Warren Buffet rich.
I would, however, be interested to know what 'make' of ten year old car, Warren Buffet drives - I somehow doubt that it is a ten year old Citroen Saxo.

Whilst I totally agree that many of the richest people in the world actually live 'frugally', many of them have made their money by convincing the average 'man in the street' to live at, or beyond, his means.
i think it might be a 10 yr old escort.....ha, only joking, thats me driving that ;)
Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.
  • and i have clients that are millionaires, have the huge house, the expensive car, the villa abroad (with expensive car parked in the garage for when they go over there) and more money in the bank than most of us could ever dream of.

So your original statement of "why do your richer clients drive bangers? and your poorer ones drive expensive cars" is only really applicable to you.

Maybe you get the wrong sort of client?

  • I work with (in the same job as) a lot of people with "old" money, and I must say that I have never encountered this...they drive new Audi Estates, Porches (yuck), Mercs and one drives a Maserati.
It only means something if you let it.

I'm sat here laughing my head off at the thought that you must go around your local neighbourhood asking everyone if there kids were planned; how else could you possibly know such info.

Although I agree that we can sometimes be insecure I think that you are talking the most patronising drivel I've heard in along time and I pray that you will never experience the 'bad management bad luck' that you seem to think is the only way that people can experience the down side off life. For your info bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people sometimes through no fault or effort of their own. Such is life
  • The more money you have the less you have to prove yourself so the less you need to spend. Unless you inherit money, you are likely to have worked for it so you know the value of things. Two identical watches (bar brandname) one £50 one £1,000, the rich person goes for the £50 one while the person trying to look well off goes for the £1,000. The rich peron stays rich, the tryer stay poor.:D

i have to say conrad raises a good moot point. I knew a Lord who was old money and loaded but shopped in shops like oxfam and lived a basic life. HOWEVER i know of one millionaire who has a ferrari, maserati and land rover all parked up, but will squirm at having to pay £15 for a cocktail. So everyone is different

It is all about what you value...in life. I am only 22 but i know i want a nice life and from the mix of people i know those who have money tend to not flash the cash but work hard, save hard and dont spend money they dont have aka borrowinng to buy things for status symbols reasons.

The OP made me smile, does that mean people will see my matalan clothes, 8 year old car (with characterful dents), small semi etc etc as evidence of how rich I am :rotfl:

    Sou

I'm richer than you then, my car's 12 years old:rotfl: :rotfl:

 :rotfl: Do you know what Conrad?

I can't work out if you're a special kind of troll, or just the online equivalent one of those blokes you see in the pub who think they know better than everyone else and are constantly banging on about their opinions, prejudices and stating the bleedin' bl00dy obvious.

They usually only have about three opinions and they just rotate them over and over and worryingly so do you.

We all know people who fit - or don't fit - into your little stereotype. It's meaningless.

If you have such amazing financial acumen and social insight why aren't you replying to all the desperate suicidal tearful people on here who need help instead just churning out the same tired old material that we've all heard before?

  • Hopefully with way things are at present the world will be a nicer place as everyone wont be trying to keep up with the Jones's (my rather simplistic view on life!) I was 'the Jones's' and it got me in a lot of trouble. Its gonna hurt a lot of people but perhaps they will learn like I did that money and material goods dont make you happy. I get more of a buzz now getting bargains than the latest phone etc although I do have a weakness for mitsubishi evo's.....just a dream though!
