If everyone who writes on this forum uses ebid it will surely help. I have sold one thing. I suspect it is another seller trying to get feedback as the item was ridiculously cheap. Am planning to put on more items that had planned to get rid of.0 -

I too work foor a company with a shop and its crippling. Not getting a website or looking for another host site is an example of laziness and fear. It would be better to find somewhere else now before its too late and your just wiped out of ebay completely without being able to traffic people to your new location so that when the inevitable comes people know where else to go. at the end of the day - people use Ebay becuase its cheaper - its becoming less cheaper becuase of fees therefore when customers begin to hear of an alternative that is like the Ebay that was they will follow - question is where?
I don't think people use ebay becuase it is cheaper, there are plenty of other cheaper options out there. I suspect people are like me and use ebay as it has the customer base we need to sell our goods.
I have tried other auction sites with no success whatsoever, I saved a lot of money but mainly on packing materials as I never sold anything at all and therefore never needed to pack anything!
Amazon is a contender for certain items, I still use them a lot but they are often dearer to use than ebay..but Amazon is awfully easy to use.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. have you not got any home insurance etc that will cover the bike theft?
No, the bike was old so the excess would be more than the cost of the bike. Plus the bike wasn't mine it was my housemates. So conflict resolution is in order, he bought the bike for £280 in the 2000 (Carrera Kraken) it must have been, the bike is ebaying for £50 so we have struck as kind of deal that a 2004+ Carrera kraken is going to be ok.
Probably not as annoyed as the person who has to pay out for a new bike. If you want to flame take it to PM

You have just broken me with that piece of news.
Ebay shifts independents to it's subsidiary gumtree then starts charges on gumtree, conspiracy I think so!Buy for value not cost.

Or a business, its what all businesses do.
I've been away for a few days, so not fully up to speed with the changes in fees. As far as I can tell the standard auction listing fee has not altered, the gallery fee is now free permanently, so that is a reduction. For auctions at least all the listing fees/structure has come down.
Buy it now listings and shop listings have increased/changed, not quite got to grips with what it will mean for me.
As someone else has implied Ebay has the customers, no one else comes close to providing the range of buyers for the range of products.
Whoever brought up the monopoly question again, there isn't one. It isn't Ebay's fault that any opposition aren't good enough, they don't manipulate the market to keep out competitors, by the amount of detractors they have, they seem to be going out of their way to do the reverse..0 -
Like RFW says ebay have had a lot of competitors in the past, when I first starting selling at auction they weren't anywhere near the biggest name in the UK. Slowly though all the competitors have given up.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
