Does anyone happen to know if the letter I received is normal for this position or for the DWP to be sending out.
    Thanks in advance.

never once have i said you shouldn't help people but you must do it within the standards of behaviour guidance....keep within that and you can give as much advice as you wish....it musn't be in an official capacity....you are leaving yourself open to all sorts of problems which i'm sure is the last thing you want

I've recently been accepted for the position of EO, but the letter states I'm on a 12 month waiting list and that a job is not actually guaranteed. I've had to send back information on which office I would rather work at and I've been advised I'll have to wait 4-6 weeks to find out if I'm successful. Does anyone have any advice regarding this letter? Should I expect to be offered a post or not? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and set my mind at rest as I've been unemployed 3 months and I'm starting to fester on the couch.
    Cheers

I think there are 3 possible letters following an interview:

    1) sorry you've been unsuccessful.
    2) congratulations you've been successful, fill in the CRB forms you're on a waiting list.
    3) congratulations you've been successful, fill in CRB forms we'll do pre-recruitment checks to confim whether or not we are able to offer a post.

Great, My letter does state they are doing the CRB checks and to pre-empt previous employers aswell for references. I'm just unfamiliar with the DWP process, normally when I've had a letter saying I've been successful in the interview it means I have the job.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
  • How long did you have to wait before you got your 'congrats' letter?

I'm still all confused by this. I understand that a CRB check has to be done, but thought that would depend on whether I was going to be made an offer or not!

It all depends which part of DWP you've applied to, I'm guessing its JCP as I'm not aware of anyone else doing any large scale recruiting. They have all sorts of pressures with recruitment at the moment not the least being that they are running out of space for new staff having decreased estates capacity over the last couple of years, these things take time to sort out, in addition to that if you've been accepted for a job in a Benefit Delivery Centre or as a Personal Advisor they'll need to wait for training places to be available. They can't take you on before training places are available as you'd not be able to undertake any work, try and be patient I'm sure it'll happen and congratulations!

JoeBreakdown, I had to wait 3 weeks and 2 days for my letter, not that I was counting!

sammyjammy, thanks for the input, it is greatly appreciated. I have been a bit impatient of late due to the fact I've not worked for 3 months, I guess I just needed to put my mind a rest and I was also worried incase I was offered a position elsewhere in the meantime.

All your help and input has been great.
    Cheers

Well, I filled one in at the interview and then I was sent one with the letter stating that I was being offered a position.
I phoned the Newcastle office and they advised me to fill it in again and send it back anyway, so I did.
