  • They ask you questions about you previous experiences. not necessarily in work.
One thing is about suggesting a change in a usual practice and what benefits it brought.
Another is about dealing with a customer complaint, or a problem situation.
They are fairly ambiguous questions which can apply to real life situations and not just work related situations.
  • The interview I had was a two person panel and it lasted about half an hour. One asked the questions, the other took notes and they swapped roles.
You do not need to give minutely detailed descriptions of situations as long as you can present yourself clearly.
They are looking to see if you can think for yourself in certain situations, problem solve and "look forwards" if you see what i mean.
  • I recently had an interview for AO position...

    Questions included:

Tell me about yourself? (i.e. what you been doing in the past year or so and your skills you can offer i.e. customer service, it, admin, communication, team working)

    Tell me a time....When you worked in a group/team?

Tell me about a time ...you managed a resource? such as time

Tell me about a time ...when you improved performance and reviewed something? e.g. a piece of work

The four questions you will be asked are on the 4 competencies sheet you got so just think of examples from your life and past experiences!

    Honeslty, Dont worry...you'll be fine!

DONT FORGET TO TAKE PASSPORT/DRIVING LICENSE/NATIONAL ID CARD AND YOUR 3 FORMS YOU RECEIVED IN THE POST!

    Good luck!
  • Hi sportfan glad you got on ok have you any idea how long we have to wait to get the result of the interveiw? I didnt like to ask! I had mine on friday.
  • Janet,

Thats one thing i forgot to ask but i presume a few weeks?

Did you have interview for AO position - How'd it go? How long did yours last and when/how do we get our test scores?
  • i went for an interview for an EO post today and they said they would let me know outcome within 2 weeks by post

quite a peculiar interview and i left loads of things out that i had meant to include but fingers crossed anyhoo.

Good luck suewiththeblues. What sort of questions did they ask you?
Were you allowed to ask questions at the end?
  • Having read the responses from people already in employ by DWP, I despair.

Bad English is predominant... from bad spelling and punctuation to poor basic grammar.

I wonder WHY I bothered to apply for DWP vacancies. I am obviously not thick enough.

As for the tests, they are basic. VERY basic. If you fail on either, I strongly advise suing your parents, government then school... in that order.
Do not blame the education system for your inabillity to be coherent in the basics of life!
