applied for AO post in dundee. did my interview july 3rd and today recieved a letter saying i was successful at interview and now currently undergoing pre-recruitment checks...anyone knows how long this will take? any others applied to dundee?
  • Hello, i have a interview on the 31 July for AO and it's my first interview i have had since losing my job earlier this year (well, apart from one for some scam job which i was lucky not to fall for!). I am so incredibly nervous, as all the pent up emotion and frustrations of being unemployed for the last few months have come to boiling point. I am so worried i will mess up my test/interview with my nerves! I am literally shaking already and i have over a week to wait! My last job was as an admin assistant, and i am worried that they will not be too impressed with me, as i have not had as experience that others have dealing with customers etc. Just wondering if anyone has any good tips to give me to help me calm myself and stop me ruining my chances!!! It would be much appreciated.

Also, when i applied for the position, i filled out a competency test with my application. Does that mean my interview will not ask these type of questions, or will i just have to go into further detail on certain competencies?

    Thanks for any help!!

Hi congratulations on getting an interview date. My 16 year old son is taking his moped test on the same date - so I am fingers crossed for the both of you!

I have done the online assessment and attended the interview for EO vacancies - the process has been really positive and I felt the interview was designed to bring out the best in the applicant.

My advice to anyone is - recap before the interview some of your best moments in work situations, and apply the STAR principle

S - state what the SITUATION was
T - identify the TASK that needed doing
A - explain in a fair amount of detail what ACTION you took
R - clearly state the RESULTS following the action taken

Also be yourself and remember to breathe - you are showcasing what you have to offer and they are looking to see what qualities you can bring to the team... interviewing is more difficult when the applicant is too nervous - however they are trained to bring out the best in you - so feel free to ask for clarification or to repeat a question etc... a good break to recapture your nerves is to take a drink of water or ask for a refill... buys you a few seconds to regain composure and looks really natural too!

Good luck to everyone out there applying for any jobs

  • It's funny that my original thread from years ago has just resurfaced. Just as i'm about to go ( on Tuesday) for another interview with the DWP.
  • Another dwp thread?

    ....

g'luck anyway. what post are you going for?
whinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.
  • Please could you kindly help with any DWP interview questions and test, I am sitting one for the council tomorrow and I believe they are similar.

    Thanks

I've sent my form off and i'm hoping for an interview for the DWP (JOBCENTRE PLUS)

It says on the form selection tests will be held this saturday. AAArrrggghhh (assuming i get that far)

Can anybody offer any advice for the interview. I've been a housewife for 12 years so everything is new to me!

I'm particularly worried about the final assessment. I've been reading on the csa website about roleplay situations and telephone roleplay. I'm certainly no actress and very nervous so i'm dreading this!

The csa website made me laugh. They have examples of literacy tests and numeracy tests but have made terrible mistakes themselves. If that's what i'm up against god help me!

By the way, i was looking at csa interview tests because i couldn't find any dwp ones. Maybe somebody can help there, although i assume they are all pretty much the same.

Any and all advice gratefully received.
    Thanks
