Got an 'unsuccessful' letter today. I thought my first EO interview had gone well but it was difficult to judge as I had never sat that type of interview before and the interviewers gave little indication whether or not I was giving the type of answers they were looking for. Then I had my second EO interview and realised how much more positive it all was, so, I'm far more hopeful of success now. I applied for North Lanarkshire/Paisley (Scotland).

Sorry to hear that - just keep on applying whenever you see vacancies arise and remain hopeful and patient with your other jobs you've applied for dwp and external!

What questions they ask you in your EO interview?
  • heh noticed a funny thing, on all the skills pages, they have a typo on the first line of every page. They've spelt Administrative Officer with four 'i's' in Administrative. So for all of us going for an interview at some point, they even employ human beings that make the odd mistake... what do we have to worry about? ;)

Improving Performance, Building Constructive Relationships, Effectively Engaging With Customers and Making the Best Use of Resources. I was told there are 6 competencies and they choose for which are detailed on the info sheet which they send with your interview details.

I am sorry to hear that, but let's hope for success for your second EO interview! Confidence is such a big thing in interviews, even if you have to fake it! I called to day asking about waiting list and what position I am, they said I have to send a letter. Bet it will take ages for them to get back to me.
  • Hello everyone. I was just wondering if anyone could help me. I have the assessment test centre day on Monday, and I’m really worried about literacy test. Overall my standard of written English is good, but I was just wondering if anyone had any pointers about the test? 11 out of 15 to get correct is quite high and I really don’t want to make silly mistakes by not circling the obvious answers!
    Help would be greatly appreciated….

My advice would be to concentrate and read every word. There will be some obvious mistakes you will pick out by glancing at the text but some probably won't jump out at you. I found I was sometimes 'reading' what it should have said rather than what it did say and so missing things.

    Good luck :)

I'm usually fairly confident in an interview situation but it was so odd not to have even a little nod of the head from my original interviewers and I think it made me feel I wasn't saying what they wanted to hear. Since I'm unsuccessful, I was at least right about that. Much more optimistic about my second interview.

Postmen must be the most popular people in the UK right now! Fingers crossed you hear soon!

Look out for no capital letters in the post-code. Also brush up on your knowledge of when to use 'their, they're and there'. Look out for sentences not starting with capitals. The others are usually pretty straight forward.
