  • dont buy this, dont buy that, I buy everything from Lidl !!!! fantastic value on everything, their wine range is superb and knocks spots off Tescos and their xmas range of goodies is great, my shopping trolley is always overflowing and I dont feel ripped off!! AND BEST OF ALL THE QUALITY IS ALWAYS THERE
  • Aldi Cola - 35p a 2ltr bottle - by far the best I've tasted.

Aldi Shower Gel - 49p - purple plastic container, fig and milk - leaves your skin silky soft.

Aldi Cherry Bakewells 6 pack. under a £1. My husband won't eat any other brand of them. Better than Mr Kipling's.

Aldi twinpack smoked rindless bacon - £1.99. Nice chunky slices that don't shrink up when fryed.

Aldi Creme Caramel - 45p 4pack. My personal favourite. I don't bother buying them from any other shop.

  • Supermarket: Lidl

My top things to buy are:

Targa Computers - I'm using one now. Quality, Value and Customer Service puts many UK manufacturers to shame.

Computer and electrical accessories esp the Silvercrest Brand - haven't had anything I haven't been pleased with.

Fruit & Veg - Lidl's produce has improved no end in recent times. Just don't expect it to be fantastic at 6pm on a Saturday evening.

TOP TIP!!! If your Lidl is next to a major superstore (example towns are Hereford, Dereham), Lidl sell all their fruit & veg half price permanently!

    Other stuff - Raspberry Jam
    Cashews
    Pistachios
    Norwegian Salmon
    Maasdam Cheese
    Raspberry Jaffa Cakes
    Jumbo chocolate marble cake
    Jar pasta sauces
    Commodity rice and dried pastas
Guylian sea shells (not branded as Guylian but packaging is identical and I assure you from inside trade knowledge, and from tasting, that they are identical)
Frozen basics eg veg, ice cream

Lidl are very strong on sweets and cakes - and usually something new to try.

My top things to avoid are:

    BOCKWURST!!!
    Yucky cheapo dairy deserts
Batteries - cheaper and better quality at Wilkinson
Blank CDs and DVDs - ditto

Apart from that it depends on how fussy you are. Most brand loyal people won't have got this far in this thread anyway!

One thing about Aldi, the elctrical stuff, or any of the non food stuff...

They have a no quibble 12mths guarentee, My friend is a manager there.

If it breaks in the first 12 months, take it back and you get a full no questions asked refund.
  • ALDI for serious bitter drinkers ' they permantly stock top brew Batemans Bitter 500ml bottles for £1.19 (20% below the big 4)
  • I love the long life part baked chiabatta loaves that they seem to do in all three (Aldi/Netto/Lidl) They are much cheaper than fresh, and taste brilliant freshly "baked". We took loads of these on our self catering holiday to Mull this year, baked them in the oven for 10 mins early in the morning, then filled them as sandwiches to take out for lunch. Saved us an absolute fortune.

I agree with that. I bought their 6 man tent in the summer, and although very pleased with the quality, size, value for money, on my first trip with it, one of cords inside the corded poles snapped, and we could not repair it with the repair kit that came with the tent.
I took it back to the shop, hoping to exchange it, but was instantly given the £70 cash straight out of the till even though I had paid by card. Now, not many shops would do that without having to fill in a returns/refund sheet, have it seen by the manager, etc.
