Thanks Paul. I'll put that into practice tonight:D

One more thing I noticed was..When we did the simulations for broadband, we used to click for self-install or engineer-install, but I couldn't see these options on the new system. I selected hardware delivered thinking it was the self-install option but that added a £25 wireless adapter to the order. I then took it off and just had the bb subscription on its own which worked fine.

    Is that right then?

    xx

Sorry guys I forgot you do tech. I'll ask Darrel later.

Thanks for all your help xx
  • I just want to vent my disgust with the process I went through with TeleTech!!

I applied through working mums, submitted my CV and covering letter.

Got an email through the next day obviously since I had no email to add to my Safe List it went to my Junk Mail. I had no idea that I would be emailed from 2 separate accounts so I missed the initial assessment.

I booked my interview and a couple hours before I received a phone call reminding me about the interview. I also received another phone call telling me that I needed to undertake an assessment in 24 hours. I explained about the Junk Mail and how it must've been missed and it was resent.

I did the computer diagnostics part of the assessment and passed; however when I tried the Candidate Login I got error that it was invalid.

I tried finding an email address to mention the problem with no joy so went on to the Live Help and they said it would be passed on and the email resent. I also mentioned this about 3 times during the initial interview and was told that it would be reset and the email resent and that I should mention it on my second interview.

My second interview never happened at 5:30 as the person NEVER called! I had my phone with me and waited til 6!! I rang back one of the numbers that had called me the previous day and all I got was an apology stating that an email would be sent for me to reschedule the second interview. Once again I mentioned the Skill Assessment problem that I was having and was told it would be emailed!!

No emails came through so the next day I called again and was told that an email would be sent through.... NOTHING... meantime my disc arrives by Recorded Delivery... No instructions so I pop it in and run it hoping for on screen instructions... nothing so I go to Live Help AGAIN who informs me that it would be dealt with in the training... Once AGAIN I mention my Skill Assessment problem and was ASSURED that it would be dealt with...

Lo and behold after ringing US 3 days in a row and not having any emails through (no it was not in Junk Mail as it was added to my Safe List and this time I was expecting it so was checking VERY frequently)... I get an email saying I am unsuccessful blahblah... SO I go back to Live Help informing them of what had transpired for the umpteenth time and asking for a contact email.

I send an email saying thank you for the email however I was not given the opportunity to undertake the Skill Assessment because of the login issue and I reiterated the above AGAIN!!!

1 week... NOTHING so I resend it again and get a reply telling me that the assessment was sent and I did not take it and it was resent and I still did not take it... The assessment was attached and in it contained the email of the person who was suppose to call me for the 2nd interview... However; in my defense I replied reiterating and reiterating my original email!!

I did the Skill Assessment the same day it came and emailed the person doing the interview....

That was 2 weeks ago and NOTHING no reply NOTHING!!

Not professional at all so many emails and phone calls and Live Help alleged help and not so much as an acknowledgment?? Frankly I'm having this problem now its a darn good thing that I didn't get through....

**breathes** so glad that's off my chest

Yep you just hit aux, it will flash until you end the call at which point you will drop into aux. If you wait till the customer hangs up and calls are back to back you won't have time to get into aux sometimes. Always, always aux before the call ends if you have gone past your end of shift or you will get hit with another call before you know what is happening. Obviously prior to end of shift you are crossing your fingers or looking to pad the call out a bit to make sure it hits your shift end but once you are on a call always aux before it ends, that way avaya knows not to send another call to you.
    ***i dont think so***
if you go in to aux you will be got at for being in aux default and told to get out of it and told that is not allowed
    ***whatever***
they make it sound easy and easy going before you take the job then when you are there its like you cant do anything right
    ***whatever***
you have to stare at a screen and speak for 4 hours non stop and get no breaks and can hardly even take a pee without having to answer for it
    ***whatever***
the stupid slow systems you use take ages to respond but you get told to speed up and you have to do a long report on a call even if the caller just needs to be transfered and you keep getting told different things from different bosses
    ***whatever***
then they dont let you off to go on holiday
    !!!!!!enough!!!!!!

Absolute rubbish, you aux for end of shift so that no more calls come onto your phone. You only do this once you have past the end of your rota'd hours and not before hand. Until your shift ends you are there to take calls even if it means a call hitting your phone with 30 secs to go (my personal record so far is a call 3 secs from end of shift). You are allowed to use certain aux codes during the shift for toilet breaks etc but you are not allowed to just drop into aux for no reason as it impacts the project stats and then we all get into trouble.
All your other points are down to personal experience so I'm not gonna go down that route, suffice to say the holiday situation is one that is causing a lot of trouble at the moment for ALL agents.
  • it was all part of my personal experience
    ***unfortunately***
about the holidays if they treated staff decent they would keep them and have plenty for holiday cover
    *** you know it ***
sky are probably using you to test system they will put on web and get rid of you all if they ever get it to work

if you go in to aux you will be got at for being in aux default and told to get out of it and told that is not allowed Yep go into unspecified aux during your shift you will-it's called skiving
    ***whatever***
they make it sound easy and easy going before you take the job then when you are there its like you cant do anything right Yep a lot of people feel like that when they start a new job it's called learning curve
    ***whatever***
you have to stare at a screen and speak for 4 hours non stop and get no breaks and can hardly even take a pee without having to answer for it
Erm -you expect to work in a call centre and NOT be staring at a screen ? Just WHAT did you expect the job to be?????? Never ever got into trouble for taking P-Time -it's built into your allowances and is in no way added to break times (btw no company gives breaks when you work a 4 hour shift-be a bit pointless)
    ***whatever***
the stupid slow systems you use take ages to respond but you get told to speed up and you have to do a long report on a call even if the caller just needs to be transfered and you keep getting told different things from different bosses
No need to write a long report-you make notes as you go along with the call and c&p them in at the end of the call-Why would you need to keep asking different people the same question anyway?
    ***whatever***
then they dont let you off to go on holiday
Funny that I took 2 weeks in July and a week in May-and have other dates booked for later in the year-perhaps it's because I gave enough notice rather than asked at the last moment
    !!!!!!enough!!!!!!
this company was the worst i ever worked for cleaning toilets was better as there was not so much sh**
Seems to me you did the right thing leaving the job expects a certain amount of maturity and common sense -I hope you find some soon
I could tell you some genuine horror stories about companies I've worked for in the past-very large nationally and internationally known companies-after 9 months with the company TeleTech aren't on that list. Yes it's subjective and NO company is perfect but when someone takes a homebased call centre job and then complains they are expected to stare at a screen and TALK to people it's a little hard to take them seriously !

Well if you consider yourself of reasonable inteligence and couldn't get to grips with the system........then I don't think that's a particular worry !!:p

In all seriousness though I do think some people did apply thinking they would be sprawled on the sofa taking the odd call and didn't expect it to be a real job requiring full attention and concentration. It really is just like working in a call centre with many of the same pressures. I've done both and vastly prefer working from home but I know some people do miss the support of people physically around them rather than relying on a chatscreen for it. It suits some people but not others but I really don't understand the vicious attacks on the people who are content with the job. I've been in jobs I hated before-so I left and found another one-I certainly didn't waste my time haranging ex-collegues or prospective employees about it. I was too busy with my new job and having a life.
