Well if you consider yourself of reasonable inteligence and couldn't get to grips with the system........then I don't think that's a particular worry !!:p

In all seriousness though I do think some people did apply thinking they would be sprawled on the sofa taking the odd call and didn't expect it to be a real job requiring full attention and concentration.

worked there while also finishing my degree
worked hard there cos i always do but you supposed to get breaks when you work in front of a computer screen
could well get to grips with the system but it is slow and you have to be fast fast fast or get the boot

other places give a 10 min break each morning or afternoon or evening shift but you dont get that at tele tech
the sarcasm and insults you use are typical of vibe of the place so maybe you fit there better than i did

You can spell but not punctuate or form a proper sentence? Trying to pick fault with someones' spelling while not using correct English yourself is not a smart way to get your point across in my opinion. Yes you are supposed to get VDU breaks but I would expect that is what you are supposed to use your personal breaks for as much as anything. How much time you get for breaks is dependant on your shift hours and how they are set out in your day.
  • Can you suggest any job opportunity in U.K for software field.Actually am a fresher want to get in to software platform especially in London.
  • i'm actually quite intruiged by this teletech opportunity - i've worked in I.T. for 13 years but haven't worked for a number of years due to a medical condition, so this would be ideal for me.

i appreciate that if you're on a shift, you don't really have much of a chance to do anything else but i was wondering if it's caused anyone to make any major changes in their lives to accomodate 4 hour plus shifts on a daily basis?

what i mean is that i tend to like to keep in touch with my family on a daily basis, usually after 6pm, so if the majority of this work is in the evenings I don't think it would be possible.

can you work during the day ? saturdays and sundays wouldn't be an issue either, but it's just the evening work that could cause me some problems.

    Hi Jason
The shifts we were recruited for are 4.30 - 11 and then between 8.30am - 6pm saturday sunday.

The hour are between 22 and 26 My schedule is mon, tue off, weds til 11 thurs til 8 fri til 11 and 2 - 6 sat sun.
The training however was 4.30 - 8.30 monday to friday for 4 weeks.
Nesting i changed to 7 - 11 for two weeks.
I am finding it difficult spending time with my partner at the minute but once i start my proper schedule i'll get to see him again lol

Good luck if you decide to do this ;)

Nesting is so much better now, it was just that the first night was so badly organised. Now that it is structured and we have help at hand in the chat rooms at all times it is much better and getting easier every night.

    Thanks for the info.

saturday and sunday really wouldn't be a problem for me at all. is it something that's fairly rigid in what you're required to do on a daily basis ?

i could probably do 4:30-5:30pm and 7:30-11pm on weekdays at the moment - I could work around the training for the 4 weeks if need be.

and is it something where I could feasibly knock out the bulk of the 20 hours at the weekend ? sitting at a terminal for 8 hours a day is something i'm very used to :)

i guess it would depend on the frequency of the calls - is it literally non-stop, one after the other ?

or is it one call, half an hour, another call .. stuff like that ?

sorry for the spanish inquisition :)

Hi Jason yes it literally is non-stop calls. I've only been taking them for 3 days at around the same time each night but there is literally seconds between the calls and they require your full attention. You are at home, but this is exactly like a call centre. The hours you are given are what you have to work. The schedule I have been given is 4:30-11 Monday to Wednesday, 2-6 Saturday, and 2:30-6 Sunday. Thurs and Friday are my days off.

From what I am aware you need to be available from 4:30-11 Mon-Fri.
