I am not trying to pry but did you say why he was working so few hours. I know he wants to helps his nephews and parents. But he also needs to think about himself as well.

He was working a lot more until his dad became worse with his emphysema (??) ...his mom has health probs too and constantly worries her husband won't make it through the night as he has had to move downstairs and is on oxygen bottles all the time. All of this is taking its toll, so my b.f scaled down his hours to be at home for the school run, and help with the cleaning/ meals etc. I realise he has his own life, but it is hard to tell someone they shouldn't be doing so much when you think what the alternative may be. If the nan and grandad were no longer able to look after these kids, care would be one way, or my b.f jacking in work and being a full time carer, another. To be honest it's all such a mess, caused by ONE very immature and selfish woman having one child after another without any intention of keeping them.

Could he not get a full time job that is twilight hours or over night. That would allow him to be around to help out during the day but would mean he could have some more money for himself.

I really do think that his parents need to get social services involved. It is too much for them and they really need help. Disabled people can get their needs assessed. And the children must have needs assessed.

    All the best.

  • Hope everything went ok at the dentist. Once your b.f has got his immediate dental problem sorted out, he should get on the waiting list for a dentist asap - when my oh signed up it was a 3 month wait for the initial check up.

So, he has had his first appointment, and I have now found a dentist willing to take him onto their list.....the good news? it cost only £16.20 for the first appt (with emerg. dentist as per our towns regs) to be seen AND have two teeth removed (from the bad night mentioned earlier) and the dentist who is going to take him on their list has booked him in NEXT WEEK!! (TA-DA!!).....We are so happy with the outcome of all of this, except that I have never seen a grown man sweat so much on the way to an appointment! lol but it's all done now and like that band said (can't remember their name) things can only get better!!!....A huge thank you to all of you, we wouldn't have acted if it weren't for you all and the sensible, stop panicking advice you gave.....**Kisses and ~Hugs** Kai's Mummy and Better Half ....XxXx:T

    Glad he's getting sorted.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Thats great news and the fact his next appointment is so soon will give him less time to worry.
