Lapland UK was for families, it's really for the children, its all about the children at Christmas time and for me and my children it was the most wonderful days entertainment.
The children loved the whole experience, from flying with the snowman to making gingerbread men; the toy factory was a treat with the trains and the elves. In between, we played with the huskies, met two real reindeer and frolicked in the snow falling whenever we seemed to look upwards, marvellous.
We wrote postcards from the post office and even posted them to our friends, they could not believe it nor could the children when they saw them two days later. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was special, especially after 4pm as it turned dark and the Christmas lights lit the trees for hundreds of yards into the distance.
Meeting Father Christmas was our highlight and so, so real that I doubt whether we would ever go to another supermarket grotto in my life time and that's at least another 20 years! . We were led to his cabin and inside it was cosy and warm, his home undoubtedly. We were not rushed in anyway and the children were very much spellbound with him. He was so real, so accommodating, so warm, he knew all the answers, it had to be the real Father Christmas Laura said as he knew what she wanted for Christmas and her horses name!
The gifts were of lovely quality and well presented in bags. Overall, we had a truly memorable day.
This wonderful attraction brought home something that money can sometimes not buy for many, many families where the real Lapland would always be just a fantasy until now.
We are so looking forward to this years event at Bewl Water with so many additions, how could it get any better. We have paid quite a bit more money this year but there are so many additons including lunch, an ice rink and more space.
I’ve heard the most expensive tickets are going first as my friend booked nearer Christmas and there was hardly any tickets left already.
We spent nearly £380 in Legoland earlier this year and at the end of the day and we can go there anytime and we did'nt even get any gifts.
I hope this helps people choose.
Warm regards Dorothy

Let's start a quiz. If she doubts about going to see another supermarket santa for the last 20 years of her life, average life is about 80 odd nowadays, how old was Dorothy when she had Laura? Answers on a plain piece of paper please.0 -

Lapland UK was such a disapointment last year... although the forest itself was beautiful and the Santa was the best Santa I've ever seen the rest was so fake and lame my boy was seriously unimpressed. The free mulled wine came in the world's smallest cup, The kids could hardly see the reindeers, there wasn't actually a lot of snow around and the food was awful.
Oh the woman reading stories in the tent was lovely, but in all Lapland UK was so not worth the money.0 -
Hi,
For anyone that is interested in the Lapland UK and wants to make a proper break of it to make it better value. I have got a family room booked at the £9 sale rate for 4th December (Thursday) in Tunbridge Wells (the closest one) if anyone would like to buy this from me? I had it as I was booked to go to the Lapland UK experience near there on the Friday however I have had to cancel this. So would be ideal for anyone wanting to do the same thing and save travelling there early on the Friday morning. It has the 10% discount breakfast booked for 2 adults and 1 child, therefore the total cost for this would be £22.50.
Please let me know if anyone is interested in this deal as I know when I last checked these rooms had gone up to £49.0 -
I wanted to take our little boy, as I'd heard such good things about LaplandUK previously, but after reading this thread I decided not to bother!
Can I recommend a place for people in the South of England? I took our son to Paultons Theme Park instead - they have Santa Wonderland & last year, we went through the grotto bit, with the elves, reindeer etc (all fake & mechanical, but to a toddler, very exciting), into the Elves Workshop with the toys being made & very friendly 'Santa's Little Helper' Elves who make a fuss of the children & check their names. You then go through to Santa, who is waiting for you, knowing your child's name & allows you to take as many photos of them as you can cram in!
Once you're out of Santa's Wonderland, you can have free reign in the rest of the park - even in December, most of the rides are running & although it's a little nippy, it's still great fun!
The price for all this?

Here's a link for it http://www.paultonspark.co.uk/2008/events/santa.html - just a suggestion
