But do you always mean what you say?:rotfl: . I think we all say one thing but mean another. I too am very straight talking as you know but I also use ambiguity a lot. My mum often listened to what you said for half a sentence and worked out what you were going to say for the second half. We used to have great fun letting her think what you were going to say whilst changing the sentence to something else. She was a very confused lady at times:D

There is a serious point to it though. Relationships and friends often fall apart because people expect others to understand what you say but men tend to be more litteral than women so if you say you are happy even sarcastically there are plenty of people that will think you are happy. Meanwhile others will be contantly checking if you really are happy which is a pain to the straight talkers.
Now on a forum you only have words so you cannot see the real meaning a person may be putting behind the words hence the squabbles on DT

I so *totally* agree with this. I have had that expectation that men should know how I feel. I still think sometimes OH should (do I really have to explain I'd like help with my DDs - does he really think I'm happy running round like an idiot after them whilst he kicks back with a beer with his mates?) but sometimes I know there's no way he'd know unless I told him, so for the sake of argument, and even though I worry it's gonna make him feel like he's a child to explain things in black and white, that's what I do.

Ie, conversation prior to my lightbulb moment (lol)-

Him: Do you mind if I go out tonight?

    Me: A little bit, yeah.

Him: Ah well maybe I might not go then.

    (Later...)

Him: Babe I'm going out later for a bit (his concession to me minding a bit)

Me: Oh, right, okay then (not sure what to say as too surprised he's still thinking of going but busy running after kids)

He goes out and I'm annoyed! Turns out he thought because I only minded 'a bit', in his head that wasn't enough for him to think much or change plans.

    Now-

Him: Do you mind if I go out tonight?

Me: Being honest, I do. I wouldn't mind it on another night but I'm so tired from looking after the kids and doing housework that I could really do with some help at kids' bedtime. And we've hardly seen each other all weekend, we did say we'd spend some time together tonight didn't we?

Him: Yeah we did. Never mind, I'll go out Wednesday after the kids are in bed.

Compromise, he knows how I feel, meets me halfway, because I said what I meant at the right time (vital!) Bless, he's pretty straightforward once you work it out!

    Anyway...

I'm sat here about to write various letters letting "the authorities" know OH has now officially moved in. Feels weird - the house is so small he's only actually got his personal stuff and clothes because we can't fit anything else here, the rest is still at his mums! But it's lovely having him come home here, ex never actually used to come home so couldn't remember what that felt like lol!

    Hi,
Just been reading a few pages back. Im really behind with everything at the moment. Im sorry ccstar if i did not reply to your message. Im going through a rough time at the moment and have been for the last few months. Its been really manic and Ive been unable to think straight. My mood is very eratic at the moment, ups and downs, lows and highs...Somedays I can come on here and feel better, some other times I am just to low to even concentrate. When Im on a low like that, I cant read and understand properly as my mind is in overdrive from thinking, so now I just let that mood pass and then when I feel up to it, I come on here. I try and catch up with the posts but my lows can sometimes lasts days to weeks, I just never know with me. I think about everyone on here at some point of the day, hoping that no one is having a low and feeling the way I am.
Im very grateful to this thread, we have all had our ups and downs on here. I would never ignore or upset someone.
Welcome to the new posters. Sorry I tried really hard to remember the names but this is what my memory is like, I have forgotton. So welcome and hope things get better soon.Hugs
Hope everyone is good and well. It felt really cold this morning, I have so much to do but I cant concentrate to well. Im really lacking behind at the moment, not good as it makes me feel like a failure.
    xx

Thanks for that, feelinggood. She was a very sweet guinea pig and I loved giving her celery and watching her chomp away. She was over 5 years old which is quite old for a guineapig but I do hate to see them go!

Some non-animal people don't understand. I remember when I was at work a colleague took a couple of days off out of her holiday because she was so upset about her dog dying. Her husband had bought it her as a puppy when she had a miscarriage and she loved it to bits. She couldn't come in to work when it died and I was appalled to see people sniggering that she had had to have time off "just for a dog". We get so attached to these little furries and its horrible when they pass on.

Its worse for me because any death really upsets me - I cry buckets when anyone dies in films, animal or human! Is there any way of dealing with death so that I don't get so upset? How do people go to funerals without crying? I could go to one of a complete stranger and would still get upset.

Animals are as, if not more, important than humans as a collective for me.

They were here first and unlike most humans, they are loyal and just go about there natural business (and don't try and make you sign up for things with smallprint! :o )

I wouldn't have been able to put up with that sniggering. I'd have had to go over and shake them quite violently :rotfl: Not to mention everytime they didn't have enough money for their material things or complained about anything make little sobbing noises and start going 'what can I do, life's not fair' :o and tell them to get over it :T

They are people with no ability to care about anything other than themselves, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Whether a Dog, Cat or Guinea Pig, they are all living creatures and often are more important to their owners than human beings. I know my ageing cats are more important than humans to me and when they pass, i'm going to be devastated and rest assured, anyone who says anything negative to me, will be on a death wish

Welcome to all our new friends  I've had posts ignored before, but I like to think it's because people don't know what to say, aren't feeling up to replying, don't want to flame situations any further etc etc.

I know when I don't feel great - most of the time! I don't want to reply.

    Have a good Wednesday :j

A good (not wetherspoons) Jalfrezi from a decent indian restaurant plus a pint of tea before you go to bed.
