I have posted a number of times on different boards but not this one.
I have been suffering from depression since my father died earlier this year. I have been doing my best to cope but I am struggling to hold down a job and feel like I am trapped in a dark hole.
Since my dad died, I've started to think life is too short to spend 8 hours a day doing something you hate but the bills have to be paid so I feel trapped.
I really want to move forward and find a more rewarding way to fill my time but not sure where to go from here.
Thank you for reading.
Charlotte.
Hi Chardony,Welcome to the board. It is quite common to suffer from depression after the death of a family member. It reminds us that none of us are imortal a fact that we tend not to dwell on in our normal lives. Also your feelings about your job are again completely normal. The first thing you need to do before you make any major changes is to get your depression under control ,that is the first step in moving forward. There is no set time for the grieving process everyone is differant. There is an organisation called cruise which can help you with this.I am sure the number will be in the phone book.As you say we can feel trapped if we are not happy in our jobs. You say you are struggling at work is this because of the depression or because you are not happy? If it is the depression you need to go and see your GP. There are lots of options open to you but now may not be the best time to change jobs.Nothing to stop you thinking about what you would like to do though.0 -

I feel really low today.
Everyone here is my friend. Good friends. I wouldn't sit by and let anyone judge and hurt my friends in real life, so there is no way I'm going to do it here.
If you wanted to judge us here, maybe you should go and do jury service or something because, frankly, we don't need it.
I now feel like this is a personal vendetta against Ccstar, and she is my friend and I'm not going to sit by and let people judge her and kick her when she is down, just because you find it amusing, which is how it comes across to me.
Hope the day gets better for you
I think people judge more on the net, or at least openly judge, because there is no fear of a slap for them. They wouldn't do it in real life as openly, certainly not to meThink they are called Keyboard Gangstas :rotfl:
It could be a personal vendetta. I hadn't thought of that, but the timing of it...
They could also feel threatened by the thread and be trying to get it closed.
Either way, just point and laugh at them :rotfl:
Enjoy the remainder of this Thursday :T0 -

Does the fancy dress have a theme, or is it anything fancy dress?0 -

Something with layers would be good wouldn't it - something you can add a jumper and tights too when its colder.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
It just shows that the poster knows nothing of depression or what it is like.
I think we should carry on now supporting each other and stop having a go at people for expressing how they feel.
Even if they had experienced depression (god help any 'friend' they have may have had who has suffered) everyone is different. Everyone deals with things in different ways. What works for some doesn't work for others.
The whole thing just smacks of a setup.
Let's just carry on where we left off.
Now, where's those smarties0 -

Welcome
You need to pay your bills, but if you are not happy, you need to look for something better.
From personal experience, if you are not happy at work, it will affect the rest of your life.0 -
I agree with Geminilady. I think your GP is your next step. Don't feel a failure if you need antidepressants because they can really help pick you up and you won't necessarily need them long term. Of course, you could discuss this with your gp and decide another way is a better option.
I myself have no good reason for suffering with depression. I haven't suffered the loss of a loved one (touch wood) or had a special trauma. I just came down with it. When people asked me why I had it I couldn't tell them because I just don't know!:rolleyes:0 -

So the wonder woman outfit wouldn't be any good.........unless you had hairy legs like the dog :rotfl:
Now if it was me, I would reject the tights suggestion. I'm not really into wearing such garments :rotfl:0
