SLS causes my eczema to flare-up and irritates my skin. Organic Surge and JASON make good body washes which don't contain it. For shampoo, I use either JASON or Louise Galvin Natural Locks - both work well on my very dry, frizzy hair.

    Hi All

Please look at Long Hair Community.com for lists of sulphate free shampoos for children and adults.

Carol's Daughter hair products are particularly good for afro and relaxed hair and are completely natural.

Good luck in your search for the right shampoo.
  • this has interested me as having had a brazilian straightening treatment and have to use sodium free shampoo, thanks for all your help.

You could always try conditioner only washing, there is a thread on here somewhere. Good luck with your straightening!

  • H & Barratt stocks the Dr.Organic range, the shampoo is SLS/SLes free. Haven't tried it myself yet, I buy my SLS free shampoo base & conditioner from http://www.naturallythinking.com/brands/Cosmetic-Bases.html they are uncoloured and unperfumed, you can add your own essential oils if you like. I order a litre at a time & decant them into smaller bottles. I've found that I use a very small amount of this shampoo, it takes a bit longer to lather up but keep massaging! My hair is squeaky clean yet soft. The conditioner needs only a very small blob on the ends of your hair to detangle. I wouldn't go back SLS based products now. (My dad is converted also, as I gave him a small test bottle to try. He's had a dermatitis'y itchy flaky scalp for years - just a few weeks worth of washes with this has practically cured it.)

I'd refer you to a great book called 'Gorgeously Green' by Sophie Uliano. She also has a website by the same name. The forums recommend loads of makes for products without SLS in them. It can be a nightmare trying to go through but the website does help take the hassle out of stuff.

    Hope this helps.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

  • Hi,

The new Liz Earle shampoo and conditioner are SLS and SLES free. I'm using them at the moment and they're gorgeous. By no means cheap, but its really helped with the eczema on my scalp and back (where the shower used to wash the shampoo-water IYSWIM)
