I wondered if someone could give me a bit of help please. If I use the ss tills in Tesco's can I scan the coupons myself, and if so, do I use the large scanner or the small handheld one?
I tried to use both the other day and neither worked. The sa called over the team leader who refused to let me use any of my coupons as she said I hadn't bought any of the products, even though I politely pointed out that mr t's policy says I don't have to. She made a point of saying loudly "that can't be right or we would have people paying for all their shopping with vouchers". She was very abrupt and I felt incredibly belittled.
After this I went straight to the cs counter and insisted that they checked their coupon policy. When they finally found their copy of the policy 40 minutes later, (yes 40 minutes  ), I was given a refund for my £4.50's worth of coupons on a £35 shop, but of course no apology! In fact the team leader, who cs called across to inform that I had been right about the policy, then added insult to injury by saying that "she supposed if people were that desperate to spend the time printing the coupons then fair enough". How dare she! I was spitting feathers and I honestly don't know how I didn't give her a piece of her mind.
Anyway, sorry about the essay, but after all that as I'm sure you can imagine I am quite reluctant to use the coupons again, especially if I am trying to put them through wrongly. So any advice would be appreciated.0 -

Hope you had a nice holiday.
As a new couponer (is that actually a word lol!) I have found your multisheet uploads fantastic. Also they are moneysaving cos usually coupons print one to a page, sometimes you can put the page back in the other way round and fit a 2nd one on, but yours are fantastic cos you usually have 4+ to a sheet so saving both paper and I would think electric in printing more sheets.
I hope you manage to find out why they have been deleted, and hopefully we can have them back, cos just reading the threads these last couple of weeks I know loads of people really appreciate them. So thanks for taking the time to do them.

Never known a hand held to be available at a ss till. If I saw one I'd be zapping all the coupons they've ever refused me. :rotfl: As been stated on here many times before couponers on the main find it easier to go to a sa. Just usually shows your not trying to put through dud MOC's.
Regarding your bad experience at the store call customer services in Dundee on 0800 505555.
Was the T's you went to the one situated off the A12? My brother likes going in there and having a row with them over the free yeast!:rotfl:
No not off A12 (would that be Ipswich?), off A14 B.S.Edmunds. And what's the free yeast, although I have a feeling i might regret asking that, lol.
I did ring cs and am still waiting 4 days later for a call back from the store. Somehow I don't think it's going to happen:mad:0 -

Go to the bakery department and ask for some yeast they have to give it to you!
Yea the A12 at Ipswich. Haven't been to Bury St. Edmunds store. Me Colchester.
How funny is that :rotfl: , I can just imagine asking in my store!
It's a small world, my hubby works in Colchester a lot of the time on various new housing estates.0 -
Hi
I work in ASDA and found out a few days ago that ASDA are no longer accepting coupons unless you buy the EXACT item on the coupon.
This was briefed out to colleagues and this takes affect as of 1st November 2008.
Both my Asda have always refused to accept that the policy exists anyway, and insist on buying the products. One does not accept internet coupons.
I bet your colleagues are thinking how much this will 'save' ASDA. If only they knew how much some of us spend when using our genuine coupons.0 -

I only used SS once, and never bothered again, as you can be treated like a thief trying to sneak things through. Martin has actually warned against this.
If a real person on a till accepts the coupons, then that is a different matter.
Both scanners should work. Was the barcodes clear?
As for your treatment, my friend was treated in a similar way by an SA at Boots, and a complaint lead to her being offered £10 for her trouble. But the problem in this case is, you may get a customer service person who is not aware of the rule, and they may also think you were in the wrong.
Tesco seem to be stepping back and making this an unofficial policy at best. But that does not excuse being treated the way you were, although i have been there a few times myself.
If you have the SA's name, then making a general complaint about being looked down on for using coupons, may be the way forward. But if your store DOES now accept coupons without buying the product, then a low profile may be better.0 -
Does anyone know when the £1 off Mitchum offer ends in Sainsbury and Tesco?0
-
I used most of the coupons you tried in my local Tesco yesterday, some only scanned with the hand scanner, one was entered manually and 2 scanned with no problems.
Ryvita - was entered manually without a problem
Tetley - scanned with hand scanner
Fruitiser - scanned normally
Mitchum - scanned normally
didn't use the other 2 that you did
Hmmm. Maybe I don't understand how it works then, but I had assumed that say for example if the Fruitiser is scanning ok at one Tesco store then it should scan ok at all storesThe only differences I would have thought there would be is down to peoples printers and therefore whether the scanners can read the barcodes or not, but as the SA tried to manually input mine and it still wouldn't accept it, then obviously my store is blocking these coupons but other stores are not.
So do each individual store set which coupons they accept?

Was in Tescos yesterday and looked at the date on this (cos I bought some for the 1st time). Now I can't remember whether it was the 8th or the 14th October, but it was definately one of them. Think it was the 8th and the 14th was the washing powder I was looking at.
Sorry I can't be 100%
