I never used to bother about spiders until one bit a friend of mine  now I use the glass and paper method.

Much as I try I just can't ignore them, I feel very unsettled when I know there is a big beastie running about and could be anywhere in the house, hiding in my pantry, in my underwear drawer etc..

Throwing them outside means that they march straight back in again I'm afraid.

  • Argh! You've all given me the heebie jeebies!!

Raid insect repellent spray (red can) has been sprayed liberally around the skirting and wall/ceiling edges in the past which did the trick for me...

I'm going to buy a new can tomorrow and start again if it's "giant spider season"!!!!
  • I have had two giants in the bath this week and am now reduced to a nervous wreck, peeping through every door before I go in a room and scanning every inch of the floor, wall, looking behind sofas, etc. Raid (red can) has just gone on the shopping list for today and I shall be gathering lots of conkers on our walks this week. Oh how I hate spiders (and buzz moths and big Daddy Long Legs, etc etc!) Ugh!

  • We have an old house and find September is the worst month for spiders. I absolutely hate them but fortunately my 12 year old is brilliant at catching them for me and putting them out. I have never found a way of deterring them but might try the conker trick in the lounge this year.
  • Nothing with more than two legs is allowed into my house I'm afraid This is the month for them I have to cope with them as I live alone now after losing my OH so its a case of a wallop with a slipper, sorry if I upset anyone who likes the blighters but I just can't abide them.

We have had lots and they seem to be getting bigger and bigger. My husband even felt intimidated by one when he was in the loo he heard a strange tapping on the floor..only to see a huge spider marching towards him...and as if to have known that one of the creatures just crawled up the sofa next to me as I typed that....spooky...

I'm another who is petrified of the huge ones we get at this time of year! I'm too scared to use the paper and glass method as you have to get close to them! I found a wonderful device on the internet that works a treat and desn't hurt them at all!

    I use this and it's brilliant!:):T

at least I'm not the only one!!

    Does Raid really work?
  • My hubby releases them back into the garden but I personally send all spiders to hoover heaven.

I am going to get some conkers though to see if that works!
