Snowy - I was once on a temp contract at the council, they kept extending it, after a year they made the job permanent, they told me I could apply, when I got the spec I didn't have the qualifications they wanted

Dazi that story made me go :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: As it happens I have an interview with the local council for a nine month temp job this very afternoon. I hope I get it, it's only 10 minutes drive away and would be a total godsend!! Though if they are as dippy as the council you worked for maybe it'd be better if I didn't get it.

I'm off to do some interview prep now. Sorry but I haven't read the thread properly, but will do so after the interview. I hope everyone is well.

Hi all - just had my lunch - cheese on toast in the Remoska! I used my shallow cake tin and just put three small slices of HM bread covered in cheese with fresh tomato on top and it 'did' in around 15 minutes.

I've been to the bank and arranged to open a new account because the one I have will be obsolete at the end of the year. When I asked about the direct debits that are on there, I was told that I'd have to phone the companies up to re-arrange them! I thought banks could do this and I have no intention of spending hours trying to phone fourteen different companies up, especially if I have no alternative to the 0870 numbers, plus DH will have to phone some as well. I said that I wouldn't change the account, then; they said I have to, I said, well, I'll close it and open one with a bank that will change everything for me, they said 'we'll fill in new direct debit mandates for you, get you to sign them, then post them out for you'. I said ' that's better, I'll stay!' Honestly, the last thing I want is to spend a day on the phone because the bank have changed how they operate. Rant over - as long as they do as they promised; I have to go in on Thursday. Years ago I'd have just let them tell me what to do - I'm harder now!

I've also been to the gym; it's been at least two months since my last visit and it nearly did me in but I intend to go at least twice if not three times a week. Surely it won't keep hurting!

Happy Birthday to Tired Mum and Miss Diddly!

    Good luck to Jackie0.

I recently returned a new mascara to L'Oreal because I was so disappointed with it. It cost £7.99 which is a lot more than I normally pay but I've not been happy with my usual Rimmel mascaras lately so I thought I'd spend a bit more. Anyway, they have sent me £10 in vouchers! I have to spend it on their products but I don't mind that. Normally, I would just have left the mascara in my make-up bag and eventually thrown it away because you can't return make-up to the shops for hygiene reasons, but the MSE in me thought it was worth a go complaining about it!

I have also hoovered and dusted right through the house and just about managed to get the sheets dry on the line before the rain started. It's very windy and wet here at the moment.

Anyway, I'm going to clear up the lunch things and mash the potatoes I've just cooked for potato cakes later, then I shall have a sit down and, quite possibly, a snooze! I haven't done any 'paid' work yet so I must try and get an hour or two on that, as well.

    See you later.

you can have them for a bit as long as you give em a rub down with some stardrops and a knitted microfibre - they are a bit mucky and suprisingly I have none of those things in:rotfl:

    Urghhh...expensive times.

Had to take some people on quite a long trip to train station, and car decided too far from home it needed petrol, so that was nearly £40. Coupled with recent laptop breakdowns means that life is looking expensive. Have to take £200 to Austria with me, pay several train fares and have enough in the bank to pay for bills when I go back to uni.

On the other side, I went into the supermarket to buy a notebook on the way back, and the A4 one I wanted was marked at 49p. The woman at the till said that it was supposed to be £1.49 but as they'd marked it wrongly, I got it for 49p.

Sorry for this, just had to rant!

    Afternoon all,

Not raining here at present, but will be back I am sure

Happy Birthday to Tired Mum and Ms Squiddly and someone's brother (forgotten who) :bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:

DD2 started to panic re her preparation for teaching hours which start next week so will be having little time here I guess...maybe I should encourage her to buy the laptop she keeps talking about.

Hugs to all in need...especially KAAT and Annie.

    Might get back later

    Afternoon guys
Thanks for all the good wishes for OH. Will find out later if there is a blockage somewhere in his neck:confused: He seems to be going through the mill at the mo, he actually got assulted by a council worker on Friday too, he got punched on the chin, had police round to take photos of his face, not too sure what happens now just waiting for the police to come back to us I suppose but he will press charges and no doubt the jobsworth worker will lose his job!!
Dinner tonight is spag bol followed by strawberries, raspberries and a tiny bit of chantilly cream YUM:D
