It's still raining today, but i've had quite a productive day really.I got the garden furniture assembled with a few choice words here and there, also managed to get a nice garden bench at a knockdown price, so at least the garden will be fine for when the baby is here next summer:D :D
Dad's not been too great today, the morphine is making him v groggy, but at least he's pain free:o

  • evening all,

am shattered but wanted to say thank you for all the birthday wishes for Miss Squiggly. We had a lovely meal out at the Harvester & now there's an assortment of friends downstairs. 3 year old niece is having a "sleepover" here too, but she is also exhausted, so I think will sleep soundly. She's no trouble anyway.

Dorry, hope you got that callback you were waiting for & your day improved.
Ageandjo, your poor OH :( How horrible for him on top of his health troubles.
Welcome Judi24 & any other newbies I have missed today.

Am sooo tired I can't think of what else I wanted to say to who, but (((((hugs)))) also to those who are not living in harmony at the moment....
    Night all.

Got home from Ireland tonight about 7.00 pm. Driving through rain since 9.00 am this morning. Had a lovely break but weather could have been better.

Not read today's thread but just want to say love and hugs to Smoky from yesterday. You are doing great and it will take time sweatheart.

Back to work tomorrow! DGS1 starts school tomorrow so will have to phone to see how he gets on! Car was full with presents from DGs Uncle and Aunt on return from Ireland. Smyths a great toy shop.

Meanmarie - pity about Dublin on Saturday - didn't understand a thing!

Love and hugs to everyone else.

Happy Birthday Tired Mum and Miss Squiggly!!

Hugs for Sybil & little bear, hope you both get better sleep tonight x

OH made tea, lamb stew in the SC delish, even more so as I didn't make it. Cleaned the fridge. Still got to make lunch for tomorrow. De-caterpillared the brocolli (well tried to anyway). Bought a bird feeder that hangs on the wall (on a bracket like a hanging basket) so my cats can't get the birds. Had an audit this morning at work, lloyds re-accreditation so important, our bit seemed to go well.

    2 questions please:

Diva - thanks for posting your green tomato chutney recipe, i have lots of toms that I think won't ripen, but does it matter what type of vinegar you use?

Betheebee - your garlic paste - i read what you wrote as you roast the garlic then that is your paste - is that correct? If yes do you add anything as a preservative?

    Thanks!! :D

  • I was so tired by the time it came to making tea, and I had four phone calls from my uncle, none of which lasted less than 15 minutes and none of which were strictly necessary. Except that he is a lonely old man and he needs to make contact. And each time I had to get off the phone because little bear's grumbling was escalating.

BUT I did make a proper tea, with home made potato and sweet potato wedges, reheated cottage pie and peas. Just after I found that someone had stolen one of our garden chairs. Not that we are likely to sit out if this weather continues, but really.

Little bear went to sleep, my darling husband and I were roleplaying for a much needed relax and connect when there was a knock on the door. A young girl was asking whether she could borrow some nappies. Now, strict school teachers would insist on the difference between borrow and give, as who would want a nappy returned in a used condition, but I didn't have the heart. My darling crept upstairs to go into little bear's room to get some nappies... and of course little bear woke up. He has finally settled now.

    Sigh

I'm off now to iron my darling husband a shirt. Of course, there will be no-one in the office to see that it's ironed, but it's the look of the thing. Tomorrow I need to get a proper lot of ironing done. I need to impose some order on a huge higgledy piggledy pile of fabric. Failing that I need gin. I have absolutely no idea what to do for tea tomorrow. I hope inspiration will strike as I sleep.

Hugs and good night to all.

I really thought for a second it might have been Goldilocks looking to steal little bear's porridge. ;):p:D I definitely think she'd be a suspect for nicking the garden chair. ;);) Hope you get some rest and your little boy gets some respite from his teething. icon7.gif

I'm so pleased the scan went so well Jackie. :T

Thanks for the recipe Diva. . I keep trying to prise Aussie's recipe out of her since she sent me her famous chutney last year but she's keeping it under her hat. :D Speaking of Aussie. Have :you moved into the chicken coop? :p

Had a lovely day out with the girls only slightly marred by a small car park rage incident. :o The journey home was a slow drudge behind caravanners who drive at 35 miles an hour on our windy roads but speed up to 45 to go through villages.

Made the rissotto for tea which was lovely and OH came home from Glasgow the proud owner of a new speedboat.
We're taking our first trip in it tommorrow so it's been nice knowing you all...............

I know. :o Not to worry.... If it is anything like the last second hand car he bought because it was, and I quote, "a fantastic bargain", the word speed in speed boat is probably a misnomer. ;)

I meant to say earlier Stef. I'm so pleased DD got home safely. Enjoy her while you have her and be assured that you are raising a lovely girl. :A
