is it just from BT lines or NTL as well.?

I am on NTL and on weekends it's terrible.

  • I've just updated my Orchid V4 dialler to include 18185 for mobile calls to replace the arrangement I had previously - I tried to call my mobile to check it works but I am getting a constantly engaged signal. I don't know if this is because I have only registered today - do they take a while to set it up even though I have had my registration confirmation e-mail?

Is any one else still experiencing problems with 18185?

    Regards, Stella

  • Hi Spikey - I am also in West Yorkshire so it sounds like it's "us" not "them". I am on a BT line, btw.

I am being accused by others in the household of b*ggering up the reprogramming of the Orchid dialler, so I'm releived to know that it is an ongoing problem.

I will have to override the dialler and use another CSP if I want to make a mobile call - thanks for replying so promptly.

    Regards,

    Stella xx

Looks like were gonna have to go back to sending us pigeons with messages again
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.
  • I have in the past thought it was an area problem when people had problems with 18866 as I have never experienced many problems. Sometimes have to dial twice but never more than that.

I live on the South Coast and i havent experienced any problems at the weekends, could be a capacity problem in some parts of Uk.Have you tried e-mailing them, asking if they intend to increase capacity due to growth?

What areas apart from west-yorkshire are affected? & who deleted 1 of my posts?

I'm in North East Lincolnshire but that's almost nextdoor to West Yorkshire.

I'm moving house and can't decide if to change from NTL back to BT. That way I'll be able to get the cheapest rates that 18185 offer.

  • I have had the Orchid dialler working perfectly - until about 4 weeks ago and now it is pretty much constantly busy, so much so I think I will have to knock it on the head! I've spoken to the very helpful chap at Orchid, and after trying a number of things unsuccessfully, he thinks the 1899 etc servers must be getting overloaded in my area - Leeds. Does anyone have any bright ideas - cheap calls were great, but not much use if you can't get to call out with keying in the '1899' bit for every number!

    Any suggestions gratefully received!!

    Regards

    Sean
