Scotland's local service providers to strike on 20 Aug

Around 100,000 UNISON members working for Scotland's local councils will strike on Wednesday 20 August. Members of the largest council union, and colleagues from GMB and Unite unions have all voted to down tools as part of the campaign against the below-inflation pay offer made by the councils.
The 24 hour stoppage will affect all council services. Schools, cleansing and environmental protection, housing, leisure and recreation services, home care and residential care, libraries, etc. will all be disrupted as around 200,000 staff take action across Scotland.

Excellent news!! don't let him overdo it.. but I am pleased he is starting to be able to get about!! I bet by the time the 3 weeks are up you are struggling to keep him still!!

Thats what i'm worried about, we have an old fire guard up round him and i'm afraid he'll wake in the middle of the night and try and bull past it. He's tried pulling at his stiches so he now has a lampshade thing on, he's not impressed.

As for the floods thank goodness i'm on a hill plus we have the tractor if it gets really bad. Yesterday was the worst i've ever seen it and i'm here 6 years. Some poor family down the run have been flooded, don't think the house has been built that long either.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

vanilla that is great about Bo! Poor little (!) thing - what an ordeal this week...

Greenbee, Toots and Pigpen - I didn't have a tv for years and if I lived without DH I wouldn't have one now. So I'm with you in spirit! Hate the damned timewasting noisy thing!

Lizziedripping - good to hear from you

Dustykitten - wowsers! on the ironing!

Anyways, I think this flying is finally starting to rub off on me - I spent an hour this evening when they'd all gone to bed doing the laundry, DW and a bit of tidying! What's happening to me?

Ahhh its late:( but i got loads of flying done!!

I was a bit cross with DS1 and DS2 this evening....they went outside in the rain when i thought they were happily sitting in the sunroom playing xbox!! I paniced and went out looking for them, they were soaking wet and i got the into the car and told them off in the car and got them home and told them off some more.......result being all 4 children got off their rear ends and started cleaning!! I know this sounds bad, but when im cross they all jump and try their best to get into my good books again!! I dont get cross very often, but they scared the life out of me!!

DS1 is able to work the washing machine....(he can work a computer, and xbox and dvd player so i figured that he can work a WM too) DS2 is quite good at sorting out pants and socks!! DS3 is very good at sorting out bookcases and DVD collections putting them into alphabetical order(the aspergers I Think!) and DD who quite happily destroys every part of my make up has found herself throwing one piece of her toy make up in the bin for every piece I have to throw in the bin......I dont think she will do that again!!

So I sorted out some drawers in DS1 bedroom and i now have 3 black bin bags for the bin men!! He is a natural hoarder, and i just naturally dehoarded his room!!!

In the morning when they all get up I can almost gurantee that when they get their breakfast they will load and unload the dishwasher without being asked .............. they know im cross!!!!! By tomorrow afternoon we will be back to normal again!!:) and the incident will be forgotten, by ME but they will think twice about going out without my knowledge again!!!
    :jIm going to be frugal:j
    :DIm going to be frugal:D
    ;)Im going to be frugal;)

I'm here . . . but don't know what will get done over the next little while. MIL had a stroke yesterday and is in hospital :( Not sure how it will affect normal life for any of us for a while!

    Todays list looked like this:

    Walk dogs DONE
    Do MILs washing DONE
Get something out of freezer for dinner tonight DONE
Visit MIL on the way to work DONE
    Work HERE NOW
Call in to Budget office to do some faxing during lunch hour DONE
Fold and put away yesterdays washing
    Get tomorrows washing started
Make sure OH phones DS2 tonight
Transfer some money to DS2 - he is short for his bills

Start all over again tomorrow . . .

mumoffour77 - well done for getting your kids working!! Won't hurt them one little bit LOL

And I want pics of all these so called hovels - I bet they aren't as bad as you all think!!
