Large family stuff - loving it all - I had to stop at four unfortunately - and I have four boys, so you can imagine all that was said to me about being upset not having a girl!!!
Finding out about these comments is appalling - with a 'run' of one gender like Denises's boys - what must the youngest think - my mum didn't want me - she wanted a girl.
But, like I said - if 'they' feel free to comment on a pigeon pair 'they' will comment on anything - then suddenly remembers is eldest of 3 girls..and yes...my youngest sister...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

And I bet people expect your kids to be 'deprived'.
Although we DO have a tv I sent my DS to nursery school able to count - and add - he seemed to have a penchant for number...so that's what I focussed on! And I didn't do the job I do now when he was a tot!
I had similar with my DD - she started nursery being able to read the odd word and count, she left being able to read the hungry caterpillar by herself (the teacher didn't believe me until I sat DD down infront of her and said "go on" and DD read it cover to cover), in reception year she started reading Harry Potter to herself as the teacher said her reading age was about 10-11 years
My trick was when on the occasion I did use the TV as a babysitter (usually when cleaning the kitchen/bathroom) I had the subtitles on the cbeebies channel. She also learnt some basic sign language
:rotfl: But we always had books at her level that she loved to pull of the shelves and look at. We encouraged her to count.
I'm the opposite of a few of you though - I keep getting asked if I'm going to have any more :mad:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

Oh S*d it. I'm spilling. My choice, and my then husband's choice, was to have two. Well, we were blessed. He wanted a son, then a daughter (actually I didn't - but I did want two...) When I conceived DS I KNEW (mystically?) that this would be a boy - bit I also 'knew' that I would have a C section! Why? dunno - my mum had 3 natural births, as did my sister before me... at one point it looked like a breech. In the end, 2 weeks over I was admitted and after an unfeasibly long, unsuccessful labour, the op was decided upon. When pregnant with DD and things looked like they were going the same way, again WAY overdue, I 'demanded' and was granted a planned c section.
I was pleased that I had carried 2 babies to plus term - didn't mind about the sections.
Midwife asked me to speak to expectant mums after DS was born. She started off by suggesting we talk through the birth. I double checked that she wanted me to tell my (frankly not brilliant - 2 day labour then section) story - she did, so I did. One of the (first time) pregnant mums was appalled I had not given birth naturally and asked if I felt I deserved a healthy baby not having given birth naturally!
My tart retort was - all I cared about was walking out of that hospital with a healthy baby and that's what I did. I breastfed - and he came out of hospital at 5 days old back up to birthweight.
They really do feed us a load of b*****s about this.
I breastfed DD too - but not having given birth naturally I am not a good mother BULL S**T.
You make your choices - number, feeding type, whatever. I used to tell people I breastfed because I couldn't be faffed with making up all those bottles!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

On the large family front, i always wanted a large family. When i was expecting my third a neighbour asked my sister if i was pregnant again and she said yes then the neighbour said she should learn to close her legs:eek:  now i only know her to see but flip me what a thing to come out with.

Level Three
[strike]Dust any extra furniture in dining area, checking for cobwebs on way round
Wipe and replace all those small appliances.. kettle, toaster etc
Wipe & declutter all the windows sills in these areas!!
Clean cupboard door fronts and fronts of appliances .. don't forget those kick boards..
Check those washing machine filters and drawers for ickiness!! Tumble dryer,[/strike] cooker hood and dishwasher filters need to be done too!! Will do DW next time I empty it, and cooker hood when I've got some other big items to go in the DW with it
Extra Mission : help yourself- S&S over the hob and oven
- [strike]Wipe down any tiles and shine those taps.. a toothbrush is great for cleaning away the gunk![/strike]
- 32 fling boogie.. Can't face the kitchen table quite yet!
- GO! buy yourself a treat.. you deserve it!
- Empty the bin.. wash it out.. and make it smell SWEET I don't use my bin - I just collect it up in any excess packaging and throw it out on the day
