Mrs P: If you'd known you were going to end up paying for your own card, you could have not bothered and spent the money on Dairy Milk instead!!!
I have to buy 3 mother's day cards, one for Mum, one for Dad's wife (who has brought me up too) and one for Granny!

Hey H:
We seem to have let the NSDs slip recently - you up for starting afresh in April? I suggest 8 as a starting target!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Uhm I am doing quite well on the NSD front Strumps - its you that is being a slack alice:rotfl: Sure I am on for April - I shall go for 8 NSDs:D
I had a meeting with my mentor today which was interesting - he keeps harping on about the dole so I told him that I would rather stand at the back of Selfridges than go back to the jobcentre. Mind you I shall be rolling in it when I flog this bridal stuff - sat and worked out the price of it all and its worth over £16K:eek: I have an idea of where to sell it but shall have to ask first. Had to contact the bank yesterday as some stupid company haven't delivered the service that I was promised but I paid with my visa card so I must write that letter this afternoon. Might just enter a competition with HSBC for start up businesses - each entry will receive £75 worth of google ads as a thank you for entering:j
Nipped to the bank in the village this afternoon and stuck my head in Tesco and headed straight for the whoopsie shelf and stocked up with food (rice pudding which is in the freezer, jam/cream donuts, toad in the hole (will be eaten for dinner tonight - its a finest one, leftovers can be tomorrows dinner).
Tomorrow I have to go to the postoffice to pick up some parcels (my 7day shop order) and then I have to go to Kings Heath to the drycleaners to pick up the wedding dress (it had an oily mark on the front).
My mum isnt getting a card - I never send her one, nor do I send my dad a father's day card. I am told not to waste my money so I don't:rolleyes: Might go and see her on Sunday anyway - I need to pick up some pillows and towels that she has sorted out for me.
Hope you all have a fab time over the weekend and Strumps - curl up on the sofa with OH and watch the telly.0 -

Hi All,
Well, Mothers' Day cost me £30 all in. I was really naffed off with our local supermarket. They go to all the trouble of ordering in beautiful flowers and then stick a massive pricing label onto the cellophane wrapping which, when you try to remove it, refuses to come off without application of nail varnish remover and then leaves an unsightly mess. So the whole effect of beautiful flowers is ruined by a stupid label.
Anyway, all my mothers loved their flowers which is the main thing.
Now MD is out of the way I REALLY need to halt my spending!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

Horace, I once said to my Mum, no, as usual I wouldn't be sending Dad a card for FD as he insisted that it was just commercial rubbish. And she said, "I know he's been saying that for the last 20 years, but every one of those 20 years he has been disappointed that all four of us had believed him and not sent him a card" :rotfl:
Needless to say he has had between 2 - 4 cards each year since.(The girls always remember, the boys occasionally )

Ha Ha OO
Dads are notoriously daft when it comes to things like that. My Dad asked for a golfing umbrella for Christmas, so I bought him a really nice flashy one with vents at the top to let the wind out for a more appealing rainstorm experience!:D
He hasn't used it yet - he says it's far too good to be used out in the rain!:rolleyes2

I got an umbrella for my 16th birthday, a really nice hand painted one.
This was in 1976 ( I'm HOW old:eek: where did the years go?) the year of the drought, the first hosepipe ban and the Minister for Drought. -As soon as he was invented the rains came big time, and I lived in a windy area of Kent. The lodger borrowed it (without asking -I'd have said no) and it was *shredded* by the weather, he (lodger) complained it wasn't a very strong umbrella. So I never used it, and I blame you for reminding me of that traumatic episode in my lifeand I don't blame your Dad for saving his umbrum for best.

My mum got given an Amaryllis bulb (I got it as a freebie) but I did help her in the garden. I made a pot of tea and poured her one and got told off because I didnt make Dad one (he was asleep) so I was told to go and wake him up:rolleyes:
Am a bit worried about my Dad and he managed to upset me yesterday by saying that he wants to die:rolleyes: He's not in the best of health anyway and I think he is getting bored with life, the government and everything.
Had a bit of a spend today - a business spend (bus ticket) and an MS spend only I spent less than the min amount so I put down that I spent a fiver when I only spent £4.80 (I added the tip to make it up to a fiver). Now I am wondering if I dare claim this lunch as a business expense?:D
Hate the cold wet weather we're having today.0 -
Our weather is up and down - one minute it's blowing a gale and raining hard, next minute glorious sunshine and no clouds. Wish it would make up its mind.
I have to go and ring a peal tonight - wish I'd said no! It's in Manchester too so I have to drive there, ring and then drive 30 miles back. Just not in the mood and besides which, OH is not very well and I want to go home and cook him a nice warming meal to make him feel better, not be stuck up some stupid belfry getting bored and cold.
