Horace passes Strumpet the plate of butterfly cakes:D - aren't they strange with raspberry jam on them?

I used to work for Office Angels many moons ago - they got me a temp job as a software engineer (that was the job title but really I was testing software and project managing the team). Do they still give you a chocolate angel when you join? My sight problems have prevented me from temping otherwise I would be doing that now (I temped for 3 years and loved it).

Its signing on day for me on Monday but whilst there I have to sign lots of paperwork so that I can start to test trade and I will get an extra £15 a week training allowance. The training allowance is there to help me buy petrol but I shall use it to buy insurance instead. I have hated it on the dole, I have applied for tons of jobs but people are ageist and I am overqualified:rolleyes: One thing that the jobcentres can't do and that is cater for professional people - they really don't have a clue. I have a mate who is on the dole (he used to work for an airline) and they turned round and told him that he would be better off staying on benefits (he has just been offered a 3-day week temporary job) and that if push comes to shove then he should sell his flat and move into a hostel:mad:

    Enjoy the cakes Strumpet.

Thanks for the cakes Horace. It's horrible isn't it. I empathise with you being on the dole and hating it. I just feel that I'm struggling to manage the financials where I work - had to mouth all the time - I find it very, very stressful. I'm all for giving it all up and doing something else. Quite fancy joining the police but i don't think they'd have me because of my health. I just know that I'm quite unhappy.

    Thursday 16th October 2008

Payday tomorrow becasue 19th lands on a Sunday. This means I need to calculate my debt low point this evening after close of play. Should be a big improvement on last month due to finding that post office account and my money from singing. And I feel like I'm moving forward with it too! Being a lot more discerning with how I spend my money although I need to knock the fruities on the head, £50 winnings or not!!!

Ringing a peal tonight at Burnley, so that'll be £4 if we get it. Need to buy milk today as been having cereal for breakfast recently, and made cod in parsley sauce for me an OH the other night. This swiped all the milk!

Just remembered that at the beginning of October, I promised you all my SOA. I'll try and get tha done ASAP.

    Big hugs

Just a reminder - you have a hospital appointment tomorrow.

It is hard being on the dole but I am doing something about it firstly I managed to prise £520 out of them do take a professional qualification in wedding planning, I submitted two business plans one showing what would happen if they gave me the money and another showing what would happen if they didn't - they caved in and gave it to me:j I am now about to start test-trading (I can do this for 6 months and still get my JSA plus an extra £15 a week towards petrol but I shall use it to pay for my insurances instead). Hopefully I will start getting clients soon - I am now starting to think that I won't because of the market I am aiming at which is middle to high end, there are too many planners who cater for the low-end market and I refuse to be one of them.

You could try for the police and see what they say, if you don't ask then you won't know. They are not allowed to discriminate either. So give it a try, they can only say no and if they do then they may be able to suggest something else.

Well best dash, I need to make a phone call because I want to go and view some marquees at the weekend.
