-Are you in housing association or privately rented accom?
-f push comes to shove, talk to your OR about getting a £500 (if it will cover your rent?) Crisis loan from the job centre. If youre a private tenant and it'll prevent you becoming homeless, they can pay, if you do it in person, it'll be on the day. Since its bc of ur benefits I think they will easily do this.
-Contact housing benefits and get them to talk to your LL and explain the money is coming thru but.... x y z. This will at least reassure him. Will your permission they will usually do this.
At the same time, ask if you could have it paid into a post office account, or direct to your landlord - not via you. Asking to set up a direct debit or standing order straight into his / her account will probably reassure him. Why bother getting a new tenant when your money in on the way?
I know when its like this u feel like doing nothing and ur drowning but youre NOT. If you want to talk or text, I'm here. I'm a stranger but i know how ur feeling but it actually will be ok. Youre NOT going to be homeless.Debts incurred through illness and homelessness, starting a degree in September, going bankrupt in November and having a well deserved fresh start in January 2009! Someone else here (sorry can't remember who) went into a Barclays branch and got their acccount number and sort code there and then, might be worth a try, call a few branches, they all say different things (((((hugs)))))Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

hb won't pay into any other a/c lala, they are pretty rigid too.
i didn't send the barclays app off last week cos coop said it would be ok even though i told them was br and in debt to them. they lied.0 -
i would go to the council and explain that you have no bank account to have it paid into and see what they can do - there must be something - im sure your not the first to be in this situation - or the last! maybe they could arrange a giro that you could go and get cash from post ofice? halifax were good and gave me a basic account when no one else would, worth applying in branch to see if it comes quicker. good luck.0

Try asking the OR this afternoon to free the funds from your previous bank acc.I know they have the power to do this. I would also ring co-op and ask why they agreed an account las wk but have now sent a letter saying no.Worth a try. thanks everyone, seriously good job you are there cos this is tough to cope with alone.
i have already spoken to the h/b and they were clear that you have to have a bank a/c in your own name to get the money. or get it paid to your landlord. but i'm pretty sure my landlord won't accept this.
gonna call h/b again.
sorry i'm not meaning to be all negative but i really do think i am come unstuck here0 -
Dalip's right. Ask the OR. I bet the interview is the *last* thing you want to deal with today, but the OR may be the best person to help and will certainly have encountered this kind of situation more frequently than your LL or the people at the various banks.0

If you explain to your LL that you are trying to make sure they get their money, I would imagine they would accept the payment directly to their account on this occasion?Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

Long shot - but did you have any bank accounts before your BR that didn't have any debt on them? If so, the OR would have the power to allow you to continue using that account, as long as the bank in questions allows you to. H had a Step account with Nat West that they did not close on learning about his bank account and he could still use it if he wanted toYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that
