Pushchair to fit in the boot of a 107/C1/Aygo

I am moneysaving newbie to the forums and need some advice.

I have my wee Peugeot 107 and I love it, it is sooo economical with fuel and the tax and insurance is fab however the teeny-tiny boot is the only compromise. We are planning to have a baby soon and I don't want to have to get rid of my lovely moneysaving car for a larger one so does anyone have any suggestions for pushchairs/travel systems that they know will fit in the boot of a 107?

I know the Quinny Zapp will as well as the Petite Star Zia, but the Zapp doesn't work from birth (even though it says it does with the maxi cosi seat) and I've seen some other bad reviews of the Zia. I'd ideally like one that you can attach a cot to as well as the car seat. Someone also told me that the Mothercare Buggster will fit.

I wondered if anyone else had a 107 and a baby as any internet searches I have done hasn't picked up on anyone so far.......I can't be the only person who likes small cars and wants to fit a baby in one :D
I don't care if that is all that will fit in the boot (parcel shelf will be removed but don't really want to have to put one of the seats down), I just need to find one that will (if necessary I can remove wheels if that is an option).

thanks in advance for your suggestions :T

I have a skoda fabia and I don't know how it compares to the 107, but it's not a roomy car! I used an umbrella fold buggy that lay flat. I had a winter cozytoes on it so it was as snug as a pram. Mine was a mamas and papas one, though I can't find the kind I had on their site. The other good one was a maclaren that lay flat. We have the zap now he's older.

Whatever you do, avoid the britax ones. Their car seats are fantastic, but I had nothing but trouble with the pushchair, which I changed but the second one was as bad.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • Cheers for that. The boot on my car is about 1 m wide max and about 40cm deep at the widest point across the bottom then it tapers in as you move up due to the boot door (if you know what I mean???) so v.small (I laughed and laighed the first time I saw it!). think the max capacity without the seats down is something like 139 cubic litres (?) if that is the units that boot capacity is in? A Mini's boot is about 160 for comparison and I hear those are small and a Beetle's is about 200.

Was the M&P one called a Luna? I was looking into that one as well.

    thanks :p
  • I used to have a Cinquecento and we have an Out N About Nipper single which is suitable from birth. It fitted fine but I did need to take the parcel shelf out. If you don't mind taking the wheels off it goes much smaller again (they're very easy to remove and put back)
Self employed and loving it :D

  • Great I will look that one up, cheers

I'm of no help as I have a Mini and am looking to change for your reasons....and the fact that its costing me a small bomb to run....here is a link to an Aygo for anyone unsure of what they are!

    nice little car! Good luck.
  • Oh no, you have a bigger boot than my wee car- doesn't seem too hopeful.....I am now making a speadsheet to compare all the folded sizes of different pushchairs (how nerdy of me!)

No don't panic, I am not even trying to source a pram that would suit my boot..... my thoughts are more towards the running costs of it once we have a baby.....with 210.00 per annum road tax rising to 310.00 next year and I am only getting 33mpg, insurance has gone up this year too for some reason

I would keep the Mini if I had the deisel version but I don't, I have the Cooper S version! Hang onto the Aygo if you can! Fold a seat down if need be...does it have split folding seats?

Ooh that does sound pricey (I do like the look of minis but after what you've just told me I don't think I will ever be getting one ;))

Yes my 107 has the split back seats- but my friend who has just had a baby said that I shouldn't do that as if there was an accident the pushchair could squash the baby in it's car seat! She is the one telling me that I will have to get a bigger car (and it is making me want to keep my small one more- I hate people telling me I can't do something!!! Rant over :D sorry).

I will need to find places that sell compact pushchairs and see if they will let me borrow one to see if it will fit in my boot- do shops allow you to try that out?

What about this one? - Bebeconfort Streety, comes with a car seat and footmuff too. Also the seat can face both ways and it is suitable from birth.

I'm not sure how big the Aygo boot is but apparently this one fits into a Ford Ka which has a tiny and awkward shaped boot. I'm thinking of getting one.

Look around as I have seen them a lot cheaper than Mothercare.
  • Thanks osian, the dimensions of this Bebe one are 84 x 33 x 30.5 cm which should (in theory) fit well in my boot (the width and depth come in just under the petite star zia dimensions and with this one you can attach a cot too)...sounding much more promising :j
