PO...if you put it into the TD to fluff it up, put a couple of tennis balls in with it...apparently it helps the feathers to separate from clumps......but please let me know how it goes as I have a down jacket that really needs a wash before the winter, and I want to know if that trick works

Floss x
Warning this does work, but make sure you tie the tennis balls inside a pillow case first, I once did it with oh's north face jacket when we first met, it was filthy, and I decided to wash it while he was at work it came out of the wm as flat as a pancake, and I had read somewhere the trick with the tennis balls, so tried it, the coat came out lovely and fluffy, and clean and covered in the rubber bits from the tennis balls
which we could not remove, it was then turned into a work coat, good job he is understanding
Martyn congrats on the jobs :T
verysillyguy, welcome, sounds like you did too much this morning, sit down for an hour
I am now officially on holiday untill the 3rd Sept :T :j  :rotfl:
can you tell I am happy with that

W-sybil, I don't think any of us know half the time what to write, I just ramble on..... your posts about your little bear are always very descriptive. I don't know why but I picture you (and please don't get offended!!!!!) as similar to the pictures of the 1930's(?) housewives that were on the thread a couple of days ago
.
I'm not like that, but I can aspire.
I certainly haven't taken offence!
I would love to be like Sybil Ramkin in Terry Pratchett's books, hence the login. Those old fashioned looking housewives had the housework far more tamed than I have
Little bear is dozing in his playpen so I hope to get a bit further with moving all the debris around the study before my darling husband can start. I love him dearly and he is so good at so many things, but I will never, ever find anything again if he moves any more 'stuff'. Somewhere in the study is a knitting pattern I can't wait to try for myself, a lovely plain sweater with a nice long line to cover any bulges. I haven't seen it since his last 'tidy' and a gift card to me went missing for months.

Floss....the tennis ball trick does work....I also find that a large capacity dryer works best. (another shameless bit of self promotion)
Redruby, I've never had the problem of bits coming the tennis balls, I use the ordinary ones that you would play tennis with, from a sports shop, they don't seem to loose their fluff as much
Poppy, your pillow should be fine, although it will take ages to dry, just keep shaking it. If you run out of sun, then either stick the heating on (swearing) or nip to your local launderette and see if they will let you just use the dryers for a bit. Top Tip, if you leave it too long damp, then it will start to smell.

Well the curtains survived but are currently draped over the bannisters as it's raining here now  Still, the landing smells nice
I still had to brush them after washing as all the cat fur didn't wash off  Chardonnay & Fleurie like to share
Sybil - Chardonnay spent much of yesterday in quiet contemplation of the windowsill, just staring at it, no idea why :rotfl:0 -

Its been lovely so far in the Cotswolds, the site it right on the Cotswold Way, at the side of a reservoir and very peaceful. Out for a meal tonight with DH, DS and GF. Keeping fingers crossed for the weekend but the forecast is not looking hopeful.

no it was not the fluff i had the problem with, but the rubber stuff they use to seal the tennis ball with, iykwim, the rubber got hot, melted onto the coat and stuck fast

Forgot to say earlier, hi to my new Facebook friend, Dazi! :hello:Hope you're okay!
Off out to do the shopping in about an hour, fingers crossed for some whoopsies. It's been sunny all day here so far, but a few clouds are sneaking around now... better see if the washing is dry.

VSG Hi and welcome. If you are tired after your day don't visit the Flylady thread - you will feel like a slacker.
Donny-gal Glad you are enjoying your birthday on holiday.
Aussie Fantastic cape. DS loved his Batman cape when he was younger. When he couldn't find that he would take one of my (clean) nightshirts, put his head through the armhole and then swing it round to the back. Voila! A makeshift cape.
Got the photos to prove it - and blackmail him with.

Benthosboy well done on two job offers!!! :T Life is being very good to you right now. Not before time.
silvercharming It's the Marlowe version of Faustus. Years since I studied so I know it will take a little bit of effort to get myself back in the swing of things. Hope you get all those blackberries used up.
candygirl thanks for the tip on the online notes. Will certainly be looking them up. ((hugs)) for yesterday. Must have been a bittersweet day for all concerned. As for your SIL - couldn't her family step in? You are doing well to bite your tongue - I wouldn't be able to stop myself.
Took a strange notion in Mr M's today and bought some pork belly.
Have no idea as I have never cooked it before and have no idea what to do with it so I'm off to look at the BBC food website for ideas. Have loads of apples to use up so will probably end up doing something with them too.
I joined Facebook a wee while ago but daren't actually learn how to navigate my way around it as I know I would never get anything done. This website is bad enough for taking up lots of time.
Have a fantastic evening. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."
