Its of my understanding that as long as I don't post anything abusive, offensive, illegal, libellous blah blah, then I am entitled to my opinion - ok, so I wrote a funny letter (funny in my opinion - I was in stitches!) but I wasn't the ONLY person to mock - you seemed to of aimed your campain at me.
I am not a troll either - for christs sake lighten up, the OP has long gone anyway before I posted.
Whats this about giving me enough rope?? Why??

By the way - you spelt 'Forum' as 'Form' in your first sentence....since you like picking up on mispelt wording. :D

My goodness - I have touched a nerve!

The OP has long gone because of the response he received from some of the posters on here - I don't think that is anything to be proud of.

I don't recall calling you a troll -I said I agreed with Marleyboy's comments regarding the reception you gave a new poster.

Ah yes - but at least I spelt "Form" correctly!

DaisyClaire, looks like school politics going on here.

i think he fancies you ;)

anyway OP (hopefully you're still here reading away) first off:

    1) you're a numpty
    2) Wilkos staff are numpties
    3) you're a chancer
    4) you're a numpty

first off a bit of intelligence is needed (not much mind!) why would you decide to buy a tin of paint then carry on shopping with it??

most people get the heavy objects at the end of the shop, however I'll let that slide.

what makes you think they are liable, how do they know you didn't decide to chuck in a 24 pack of cokes for good measure???

    UK full of p!key chancers

I work for Wilkinson as both a Shopfloor Merchandiser and Cashier, from what the OP has said, i am afraid their lack of common sense is what caused this.
As someone said before, we do ask customers if they would like bags, and we are happy to offer multiple bags and even pack their shopping, however if the customer has not chosen to take more than 1 bag this is their fault.
We are paid to process transactions in a friendly and efficient manner, and this is what we do. Most people carry the paint by the handles anyway as this is easy, yet helps the environment at the same time! Not so hard is it!

Yes, we should have sympathy for the OP, and we should not be rude, however i think the OP should get no sort of compensation whatsoever as this was their own mistake.

So you missed the part where the OP said that the cashier was the one who took the single unsuitable carrier bag and placed the item in the carrier bag? Therefore the lack of common sense was on the part of Wilkinsons and at the very most shared between both parties. In cases where liability is shared the award is shared on a % basis too. So there would be some claim against Wilkinsons.

No there wouldn't because the cashier doesn't know how far the op is going to carry the item (which was obviously a long distance, it was at the corner of their street after going to several more shops, the op must have been carrying it for ages).

The biggest lack on common sense is with the op. You can tell when a carrier bag is straining, whenever I've had that I've always supported the item from the bottom. The op should have done this.

    Move to the states Wig.
