Funny, I don't remember a sign in any shops saying these bags are only suitable for carrying distances of less than 200m

There is no sign on the edge of the Dover cliffs saying "Do not jump off", however nobody does. Its common sense, and Britain's "blame someone else" culture.

Likewise I do not hang a sign around my neck saying

"I require you to provide me with reasonable service in accordance to all laws, and to take all reasonable steps as regards to the safety of my person and possessions and the safety and quality of the goods or services that I obtain from you"

Because it's common sense. And you are showing Britains sheepish head in the sand culture which allows government and companies to rip us off all the time.

Far from it, I'm all for the consumer, however people need to take responsibility for their own actions. Carrying a tin of paint around town in a flimsy carrier bag, and then blaming the shop is not a company ripping us off.
  • Fark me, can't belive this thread still alive.....its actually quite amusing now.

As the post below your shows. Some things are so obvious they don't need signs!

Thats funny, because of all the people on this board you won't see me moaning about being ripped off.

Now I wonder how I manage to go day in day out without being ripped off?

Can you not make any decision of your own without the aid of a sign or notice?
  • I won't say whether I agree or disagree with the comments on this thread but I must say I have enjoyed the banter between all parties. In fact it's delayed me by about 45 mins -1hour on what I should have been doing.
Who can I write to make a claim?:money:

The worst thing is our "sue for every penny they have" culture will soon mean that sign will be there, next to the ones that say "paint is not a drink","razor blades may be sharp" and "coffee is hot and might burn" (hang on don't we already have that one?)
