writing a letter of complaint to wilkinsons

  • The cashier was wrong to assume the customer only needed one bag, the customer was wrong for not asking for another bag however what is really sad is that a NEWBIE comes onto the forum for ADVICE and all they get is ridiculed for asking a question. You should be ashamed of yourselves! (you know who you are) Whether you think the question is silly or not does not give you the right to act in an abhorrent way towards someone else. A simple "no you don’t really have any cause for compensation/refund" etc would have done. Now I know some of you think your replies are witty but they aren’t, honestly, the response the newbie received from certain members was very childish and I would have expected better from the forum. Whatever happened to welcoming new people? I hope the OP does continue using the site and does re-post again - it would be a shame if certain people have ruined it for them.

People have to take responsibility for their own actions, the compensation culture is taking over.

The other posters on this thread are expressing opinions, are we not allowed to do that if we disagree with the OP?

I think you will find, I am not debating who was right and who was wrong between the OP and Wilkinsons.

You are allowed to express opinions but in the manner you we're doing so was obviously seen as offence by the OP otherwise they wouldnt of took offence . . . As far as I am aware the forum will not tolerate people being offensive.

    Sorry Mum.
Whether you think the question is silly or not does not give you the right to act in an abhorrent way towards someone else. A simple "no you don’t really have any cause for compensation/refund" etc would have done.

But if everyone said the same thing life would be so boring!
Now I know some of you think your replies are witty but they aren’t,

    They are.
honestly, the response the newbie received from certain members was very childish and I would have expected better from the forum.

But it wasn't the forums fault.

    Alas they are gone.

No claire, they aren't witty. If i didnt know any better i would of thought a child had wrote most of them. Yes if everyone said the same thing life would be boring but hey . . how about a little politness to other people? I believe the term is brought up not dragged up. No your right it isn't the forums fault that certain people on here think they have the right to gang up on people but i'm not one for name calling, hence, i said the forum instead of XXX and XXX and XXX etc. Yes the newbie has gone but had it not been for certain people "ganging up" and putting silly comments back to the question we might of had a nice person who could contribute to the site. If all people do is scare off new people the site will never progress.

As the post below your shows. Some things are so obvious they don't need signs!
You don't see the signs because those bags are perfectly capable of carrying goods for extremely long distances and times when correctly loaded. In this case the bag was incorrectly loaded by the cashier. So as I said liability is at the very least on both sides.

Can you not make any decision of your own without the aid of a sign or notice?
As re my post above, there is no need for a sign as they are very strong bags, and do not have a life span of 200m distance.

Except in this case it was not the action entirely of the customer. Does your argument not also apply to the cashiers responsibility for his/her actions? If not why are apportioning all the blame to one party when both parties were involved. And do you not think that the cashier as the professional and thus in the best position to know of the potential failings of a single bag should take more of the blame?

    Ask a silly question.....get a silly answer.

You can tell when a carrier bag is over loaded, the handle digs in and starts to stretch.

This is not the fault of Wilkinson's. People need to take responsibility for their actions. If the bag feels over loaded get another/double/triple bag/hold the paint by its handle.
