Which one did you do and was it very sweet or do you not like sweet bread? Just wondering if I could reduce the amount of sugar?
I used the recipe for the 255. I don't like a lot of sweet stuff but I thought I'd try it, but didn't like it. I prefer savoury breads. Try the granary sandwich loaf. Really yummy!0 -

I've been using half the recommended quantities for both sugar and salt with both brown and white bread, and it seems to work (I've got the older model 253, the new recipes have different quantities, I don't know if it would work).
I've always cut sugar, but not salt until now. When I didn't use any salt the loaf did not raise as much but it was still great (it was 75% wholewheat)
1 tsp of allisons dried yeast (tried it by mistake and it's brilliant and cheap)
500g of Asda (mostly, although Waitrose's is great) 100% wholemeal flour.
1 tsp of demerara sugar
25 gr olive oil
1 tsp Lo salt
360 ml water
It makes a heavyish loaf, but we like it, full of flavour.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

I don't think it's been posted before, I will try, probably with 25% white flour.0 -
I'm having a little problems with sandwich loaves. The always seem to come out lop-sided, high at one end and then gradually sloping away. I try to ensure that the flour is level before I start, but it still comes out like that.0

I finally got my panasonic sd257 yesterday and made a lovely white loaf last night. I wanted to make a raisin bread, the one that is in the recipe section in the recipe booklet, and realised when it had finished that the raisins were still sitting in the dispenser! Still a nice loaf though! Any ideas why this happened please? xMake £5 a day challenge - April

I have a different model, but as I've had it for a few years it never happens to me... (well.. except once last week).
I forgot to choose the raising setting, could it be the same reason for your?
PS great purchase, you'll love it!0 -

I have this problem sometimes but not always and not really sure why so would love to know the reason too. Have only had this problem since I got my SD257, never happened with the old SD254.0 -
I thought you 'panny fans' might be interested
Last night The Gadget Show did an item on breadmakers. They compared the MR premium plus, RH Fastbake and Panny SD257 against a professional baker.
The public vote came out as
1 Handmade bread
2 Panasonic SD257
3 MR Premium Plus
4 RH Fastbake
Even got me thinking again about getting one - but as a single who prob. only gets through one loaf a week it would take a long time to recover the initial cost - not very MSE0 -
I was just looking for this thread to post the exact same thing. Was interesting to see. I love my Panny and DH and I were cheering when the results came up, how sad are weBSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
