my DS lent me his panny 256 and I'm really impressed with it :T
so far made seeded bread and pizza dough. The seeded loaves came out easily and no paddle stuck in the bottom making a big hole, which was the case with my 2 previous bms (prima and cookworks).
a panny is now top of my want list so I'm off to check any special offers
going to try to read back through this thread to find useful info... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi
This may seem like a really daft question. But...just got new Panasonic Bread Maker. If I want to make a L or XL loaf do I double up quantities for the L loaf and triple up for the XL? Or do you put the standard quantities in as the recipe states and just press the L or XL button?

I don't know about the new models, but the instruction/recipe book for the SD-255 has the different quantities for each size of loaf in columns beside the ingredients list
the ingredients don't just double & triple, & some of them don't increase in the proportions you'd expect, yeast for instance
there are some loaves that only have one size listed, I'd guess with a bit of experience you'd be able to scale the quantities up or down, but your measurements need to be accurate to ensure success, so that's not something I'd attempt at first
it's probably best to stick to one of the listed recipes to start with & get a feel for the machine & what to expect before experimenting
HTH, happy baking0 -

it's always tricky getting to grips with new equipment & their manuals

The batteries in my kitchen scales died (new-fangled isn't always as efficient as good old basics) so I guestimated the amount of flour for my 255 last night. Came down this morning to a beautifully risen loaf for breakfast! Not an advisable method but after 2 years no matter what I do it seems my bm just can't go wrong.
I love my panny :blushing:0 -

I was given a book, but I passed it on as the recipes weren't as good as the ones in the book that came with the machine
There's an older thread here with a couple of suggestions.
Alternatively, let us know what you want to make and there;s bound to be someone who can suggest a recipe :T:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
For all of you Panny owners out there who use chapatti flour you might be interested to know that Approved Food have some on special offer at the moment. A 25 KILO SACK is £7.75 and they're discounting the shipping charge by £2.25 as well.0

Thanks Penelope, not really sure what I want to do really. Just something different. My book that came with the Panny has disintergrated and I am using the Panasonic website to follow the recipes and it is a pain.
Thanks for the linkBSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
