I now want to bake some bread (this is about an hour afterwards) but the only button that is responding is the on/off. When I switch it on (it has a red light - is that normal?) the size/option/select etc buttons do not beep or respond.
Does it need to reset?
I know that if you have baked before it needs to cool down and the TEMP thingy shows up on the display. Not the case here. The display just shows 4:00 BAKE XL etc.
Any help much appreciated. Have switched off at the wall - how long should I wait? Or is it knackered? Thanks!
It now has the POWER ALERT coming up on the display.
I know it is a long time since you put up this thread but I am having exactly the same problem with my SD254....Did you manage to sort your problem out if so how??0 -

try holding down the Start/Stop button for a few seconds & see if the light goes out
if it does, then press the select button & your display & functions should be back to normal
hope it works for you0 -

It must have been a time delay thing as I tried it again about 1/2 an hour later and it was fine!! Thanks for your reply.0 -

Has anybody made jam in their Panasonic BM ? I have the 255 and jam isnt in the recipe book..0

Hi mardatha,
My MR breadmaker has a jam function but I've never tried it because I prefer to make jam on the hob.
I am happy to be corrected by someone more knowlegeable, but from memory I don't think that the panasonic has a jam making function as this question has been asked before in the Panasonic Breadmakers Tips and Quick Questions Thread I think someone there suggested hunting around for another breadmaker recipe and trying that, but I'm not sure whether or not it would work.
Once you've had some more replies I'll add your thread to the one linked to above to keep the advice together.

Hello bread making internet friends!
Just purchased an SD 257! Very excited and should be with me in 3-5 days:j
I had to give my Mum her BM back which was an SD 255. I was totally hooked as I never made a bad loaf and it is so much cheaper then that shop bought cr*p.
