You could with Barclays, at least you could a few years ago. No idea when it changed, but its a pain in the bottom!

Youll have to let me know when you get your letter confirming funding. Im hoping I get mine tomorrow or Saturday. They are saying I have funding secure but not allocated yet, seems a bit of a contradiction to me. But she seemed adament I was getting the funds. She says they have to assess and make sure hte figures are right but 99.9% of the time they are fine.

Things seem to be going soo slowly - it's now been a week since Co-Op have had my valuation report, and proof that I can make up the extra 10% that they wouldn't lend me. I'm told all the boxes have been ticked and it went to the underwriters last week to do the final mortgage offer but I'm told there's now a backlog at the co-op so I'm unlikely to get the final offer from them until the end of next week

Hope my vendors are still being nice and patient because by the time we've done the 4 weeks, 1 week, 2 weeks bit that pushes completion into October :(
  • cor Im going grey reading all these stories on here.....we were meant to exchange contracts last week...it never happened.....so I know how everyone feels on here....my battle has been simply that ....sleepless nights and worry after worry...we are very close to the end yet seem so far away from exchange....its this letter has to be with so and so....that letter has to be signed ....a policy has to be in place....a clause added to the draft and so it goes on....everyday I ring my solicitor and we seem to be taking very small steps....just want to exchange....will worry about completion after....its all getting me down....good luck all with all your jouneys xxx

    yeah, I agree with that!

It has been pretty stressful and I don't think I've ever been stressed in my life!

Hope you exchange soon! I'm now just waiting for completion on tuesday and am still nervous because it could still all go wrong...

Fortunately, the offending comments have now been removed - my apologies to all who had to read it and laugh at my expense.

just would like to clear to everyone about the time limit between exchange and completion. I have seen some mixed messeges in this forum so just thought should confirm it with pfp. I just called and they said that pfp needs 2 weeks between exchange and completion and this does not just mean giving notice of exchange. Unless you have not exchanged they will not transfer the funds. I read somewhere that just a notice of completion is enough and you can then exchange and complete on the same day, but unfortunately that is not the case. If there is no exchange they will simply not release the funds.

I said this earlier, thanks for confirming. Started to think I'd been lied to!!
