We exchanged today!!!! yipee thought it was never gonna happen complete next weds the 4th, can't wait now going to do the same as you mandy-s and go buy the paint this weekend.

Thanks Mary :-) As for your kitchen I would say depends on the units, if they are light maybe a medium colour to warm it up and if they are dark definitely go for the lighter walls :-)

Tek-Monkey I'm so sorry to hear that I remeber that day on the 4th Aug when we both had our offers accepted. Is there nothing more you can do? Have you rung P4P and see if they will extend the funding?

Thank you for you words parisjordana and yes I know what you mean about the childbirth thing lol

Hay and millie your like us with your solicitor you wouldn't mind them having these days off if only they told us so I know what you mean good luck for the rest of the week

Richard we had the same thing about the deposit, you'd think they would read everything properly wouldn't you lol

Anyway we're all nearly there, hears to all us 'Own Homers' and a our new homes and thanks to P4P for an excellent scheme just a shame its ending and others won't be able to benefit :-(

I think myself very lucky indeed

Just one other thing I'm seriously considering training to become a conveyancing solicitor who gives outstanding customer service as thats my background lol

No Richard we haven't given a deposit on exchange, I know there are some people who were short between their mortgage and P4P loan so they gave their money at exchange. But other than that the solicitors should be faxing P4P before 5pm on the day of exchange for them to start the fund release which takes 6 working days
  • ah that's what pfp told me today, so I'm going to throw that at my solicitor, the vendors just want their money as the property was their Dads...so I'm sure they will be fine

bloody lawyers!!! I work with them everyday, just proofs though the small leagues to the one I work for

Good to hear though that it works and people have a chance to get on the ladder, cant wait to move, though my brother is dreading it.....its literally 200 yards away from him lol :rotfl:

Lol go for it! Maybe you could go on haymcknights solicitors training course heehee

I do think all of us have learnt a lot about the conveyancing process through all of us. It's almost like we have to be one step ahead of the solicitors! For example my solicitor went ahead and exchanged without checking if I had building insurance -luckily I had a rough idea I would be exchanging that day and set the policy up straight away just in case. I know it doesnt affect them but I really wanted it sorted for piece of mind.

Hopefully the end is in sight for a lot of us now.
And for everyone else just keep going, it'll be worth it!
  • Hey guys sorry aint been on for a while as i`ve moved into my new home last weekend!!:j

Welldone Sontoon, im sure your relieved its almost over now, congrats to others who are nearing the end too.

I do like the comment from ParisJordana
"its a bit like having a baby...the pain you go through is so intense but as soon as you have given birth and you see that cute bundle in your arms everything is forgotten:rolleyes:...well its the same with a house, the anger and frustration all you guys have been through and currently going through will dissapear like magic when you are in your new houses, you totally forget, its like a tap being turned off."

However the next pain begins i found is setting up your phone, elec, internet etc etc haha, its been non-stop for me this week trying to sort out disconnection fees, set-up accounts, etc haha from one bit of stressfull time to another haha, however its definatly all worth it!!!

If anyone is having snags setting up a phone line with BT let me know as i have a number you can dial to see if your line works, as BT are very hestitant in giving this info out and rather charge you £122.50 to connect your new phoneline!!

Keep your heads up those still going almost there!!!

Thanks for this...yes just like a baby. The second painful stage is the sleepless nights. Your analogy sums up the process beautifully.

Proud to be dealing with my debts! Love this forum :grouphug:
  • Woohoo! We exchanged yesterday, after giving our solicitor a shove. The vendors needed to complete by next Friday at the latest and our solicitor didn't want us to exchange until today (meaning completion would be next mon) as she was out of the office yesterday. I asked her if there was anyone else in the office who was capable of sending a fax - her reply was yes, so we manged to exchange yesterday!! I am actually starting to get excited now - not looking forward to moving though as I am quite particular about organising packing and stuff, whereas my partners just chucks stuff in boxes!!

Slipslidemike - we have had problem with talktalk too, there is no phone line in the new house so I called them to see how much they charge (£59.99 - cheaper than bt) anyway, I was on the phone for nearly an hour being passed back and forth between departments. The home movers team said we could not move our account until there was a phone line installed - the new lines department said if we had a new phone line installed we would start a new contract therefore be paying for two!

Turns out there is a phone line but no sockets!? So just need an electrician!
