I know how you feel Ama, we've been waiting to exchange since thursday but have come to the conclusion the solicitor is hopeless!!! They said on thursday we were ready to go, was so hoping to do it thursday so as we could have keys this friday and give us the weekend to really crack on with what we've got to do. That didn't happen it turns out on friday that our solicitor hadn't sent a piece of paper to the vendors solicitor so our vendor wouldn't sign his contract until he had it.
Well it didn't happen on friday so thinking ok its gonna happen on monday, got to 3 o'clock and heard nothing turns out the girl at the solicitors who has been dealing with it was 'not in the office' doh!!!! they'd also said on friday don't worry we'll exchange and complete on the same day and no matter how much we told them you can't do that they insisted until they rung P4P we chose them because they'd supposedly dealt with this scheme before.
So hopefully it'll happen today but I'm not holding my breath now seems we're so close but can't quite see the end!!!
Good luck with your exchange :-)0 -
Good luck to you both. I think there must be only couple of people left to complete now. We are painting, cleaning and decorating our new house. It is 4 bedroom and huge. I am just replacing electric sockets with new ones all by myself. I didnt know I am so good on those things. As some of you might remember me saying I have a disabled child. So the work going very slow but getting there. We removed the wall papers and discovered hundreds of holes on them. So trying to cover the holes before painting them. I choose patato cake for living room, ivory for the dining room. Cant decide on the colour for the kitchen. What do you think? We are moving in 7th of november and cant wait.0

Still waiting to even get the mortgage, and my 3 months is up on the 4th!
Congrats to those moved in though, very happy for you all0 -
We are hoping to complete this friday and start decorating friday night but we'll see! We have already tempted fate and bought the paint (using the 15% off discount at B&Q last week and a buy one get one free on Dulux Once).
We are going an off white colour in each room and then using bright coloured soft furnishings to jazz it up a bit. Then the kitchen is going to be a pale green. The kitchen is quite tatty so we are going to also give it a go painting the cupboards and replacing the worktop.0 -
I am a P4P tenant and received some info on the scheme but thought this was about tenants buying the home they are in which I dont want to do. I am on a low income and cant get a mortgage at almost 58 years of age but do have some savings and no debts. Is there any other way I can get out of social housing apart from renting privately?0

sontoon I know exactly how you feel as ours was exactly the same as you and we were told it was the thurs then the fri and then that weekend was the longest in our entire lives,i aged 20 years in those stressfull house buying 3 months you know:eek: and then mon came and tues and only teeny stupid probs but then shock and disbelief we exchanged on the wed and completed on the thurs :jand all I can say to everyone is (and im sure all you mums out there will understand) its a bit like having a baby...the pain you go through is so intense but as soon as you have given birth and you see that cute bundle in your arms everything is forgotten:rolleyes:...well its the same with a house, the anger and frustration all you guys have been through and currently going through will dissapear like magic when you are in your new houses, you totally forget, its like a tap being turned off.
Weve had ours a few months now and even though you do still have stress its different stress and its only by coming on here and reading all your comments when all these horrible things happen its then I remember how awful the whole process was of buying a house and it all comes flooding back.Ok sorry Iv rammbled but im sure you all get my drift....keep going and the prize will be in sight xxx:hello:Time2start a new year diet for a new me:j0 -
seems to be that a lot of us now are waiting to exchange and complete. My whole process was going quite swimmingly until today. Suppose to exchange this week and my sol said he would have had my agreement ready to sign Monday at the latest...so all I had to do was go to his office and sign !!! Well Monday went by and nothing... called him today and nearly choked when his secretary said he had gone on a training course for the day !!! How dare he !!! I'll be having words with him 2moro when I speak to him !!! ha ha ha
Fingers crossed for everyone !!0 -
My solicitor is banging on at me about the deposit for the exchange day.......10% lol
I did explain this in the begining, also gave her the ownhome guidelines that I dont have a deposit!!! Thats the whole point of this scheme!!!
As there is no one living in the house we bought, and we aren't going to pull out, because if we do we wont be able to buy a 3 bed house for about 10yrs.....so I am not going anywhere.....so can't these people have some common sense and faith
I know it's normal to put down the 10% deposit on exchange, but thats the whole point of this scheme......now its mad me ill great.....:lipsrseal0 -
haha I'm glad its not just me and we are all having the same problems with our solicitors! We were meant to exchange Monday, phoned up to day to find out what is going on and he has gone on holiday and is secretary new nothing about it! Marvelous!
She was actually quite good in the end and sorted everything out at 6pm, hopefully exchange tomorrow to move o the 12th but i wont hold my breath. Hope he gets sun burnt ad chokes on cocktails!:D0 -
