When you select Extract the program will offer to extract the contents to a folder called Truecrypt in what ever directory you are in eg I have a folder called Downloads on my desktop, for the purpose of downloading software etc. So I download Truecrypt there, when I extract it offers to create the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\Desktop\Downloads\Truecrypt which is fine (you probably could actually extract it to you USB pen since that is where you are going to move it all next, but I just followed he instruction as was.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

OK, I'm almost complete now, I'm at the final stage within the tutuorial I'm here: http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/?s=tutorial
Not sure what I should do now, I tried to remove the USB and it says cannot be removed, try later, any idea what should I be clicking in that fianl box?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Ok I assume the "final stage" is "Final Stage" in that tutorial, you have created you volume and you have mounted it. In order to remove the drive you need to dismount the volume as it shows, and possibly right click on the usb storage device icon in your task bar and select "safely remove hardware" and stop the drive, then you should get a message that says it is safe to remove device.OK, I'm almost complete now, I'm at the final stage within the tutuorial I'm here: http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/?s=tutorial

OK Trade
I've gone wrong somewhere, I managed to unplug the USB, rebooted my system, inserted the USB, gone back into the drive, but it's not asked for a password.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Note that I wrote a Truecrypt vs Rohos comparison in post # 40
Rohos is usable by complete novices so long as you train yourself to click the Disconnect option before unplugging your drive. It allows read only mode for non-admin users.
Oh, and what 10past6 reports above - that you don't get prompted for a password - can happen, this is the niggly bit about Truecrypt, getting it to Auto-mount from the correct file name you put your partition in, and ask for the pw without fuss.
I get get it to happen by opening the disk with the Truecrypt icon from My Computer, then dragging the file (it will be the one with the big size) onto the blue Truecrypt icon.

Ok if you followed his suggestion in the tutorial I posted, I know you were following the Truecrypt tutorial, but it would have worked out the same then you did not encrypt the whole usb drive, but would have put an encrypted container on it, so you can open the drive without being challenged for a password, there should now be a file on there of whatever size you created and it would be this you would need a password to open.OK Trade

At step 7 of the tutorial what was the location you created the trucrypt volume in?
They had
\My Documents\My Volume
What did you put there?Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
