do you live anywhere remotley near the Uni's?? if so might be worth contacting the Christian Unions to see if any students want a room ( post Grads are more likely to prefer living with professionals, but thought it was worth suggesting). christianflatshare still isnt massively well known ( well not down here) and only a few of my friends have got places through there and they all live in London.

Stepper or trampoline..hmm...if you'll be using it while watching tv I'd go for the stepper so the screen doesn't jump up & down, if you see what I mean :j great for the legs too!

  • I was thinking about that as well.....!! Also, DH could also use the stepper, it wont break as quickly as a trampoline....

    Hello!

Just thought I would pop in again. It is nice reading the diary of someone of a similar age and situation. Was having another think about your trip to a theme park. I went last year when I got a couple of free tickets for me and OH. I think Alton Towers are charging £4 for parking now, although it may have gone up. We took a really nice picnic with us, which meant that instead of spending money on overpriced food and drinks, we bought a couple of the overpriced pictures! Just a thought.

As for the stepper vs. tramp arguement. I would have suggested a bike, especially if you want hubby to use it. Purely thinking of my OH, who is less than svelte himself, cycling will put less pressure on the knee joints. Otherwise my vote would be for the trampoline, as I have seen that they can be very effective for weightloss and toning, and I would have thought they would offer a bit more variety in jumping about, rather than just step-after-step-after-step.

    Good luck with your decision.

  • Thanks Milly. Unfortunatley in our iccle flat we have no room for a bike!! But good idea. I agree with the variety of the tramp... well let me start from the begining and tell you all about how pleased I am with myself over lunch.

Left work at 1 with the aim of going to Argos to get steppers, so DH could use them as well. On my way out, 'drop called' DH to get him to ring me back (as he has free mins, Im on payg.) He called me back and we were chatting, and he said that he wouldn't use the stepper because he's so heavy now that he thinks he would break it within a few days. (Weight limit on the stepper is 15.7 stone, he is 23.8! ) He also said they're very heavy to carry, so if I waited until tonight, we could drive to Argos and get some.

So, agreed with him that we would go to Argos later, so then wondered what I could do with my lunch break, as I was already out of the office and enjoying the sun. In my bag I have a 250points when you buy any No7 product from Boots... so off I trotted:o Ok, my reasoning was this... if I spend £3/5 I get something nice, + I can buy my lunch from the points!!

However... got there and of course, the cheapest thing in the No7 range is about £8:rolleyes: so I literally spent 20 mins wondering around the stand looking at the testers. The No7 lady came up to me, and put some grey eyeliner on me... tried some green eye shadow (yummy, I loved it). But there was this MSE concsience plagueing me... "You dont need it, You dont need it"...

But then I was thinking, but I'm hungry and I want to buy a nice lunch for a change.... so the MSE conscience says "Idiot, it's cheaper to buy a meal deal for £2.99 than to spend £8 to get £2.50's worth of points"

    :o

So.. wait for it.... I WALKED AWAY FROM THE STAND:T

And I got a meal deal for £2.99.

EVEN BETTER... I resisted the coke and the crisps:eek:

And got a volvic strawberry water along with some grapes:T

However.... on the way back from the meal deal, I spotted the reduced counter... grooan. They had a lovely Boots potion that you smear on your face under a moisturiser to give you a magically blemish free face:rolleyes: And it was only £2.40 or something like that. I picked it up and went to choose my meal. Once I had chosen though, I thought about all the lotions and potions at home in my cupboard. And the lotions and potions challenge I have taken up with my buddy Jo... (Use up all the potions I have before I buy ANY more)

And... wait for it... I PUT IT BACK!!!!:T

So..... I was a good mser, I resisted the No7 makeup.
I was a good eat less'er' and got the lo cal option for lunch.
I fulfilled another day of my lotions and potions challenge
I am starting my fitness routine tonight

:rotfl: :T :rotfl: :T What a great start to the weekend!!!

So, if anyone is still reading (lol) as OH is not going to use the stepper, and I enjoy tramping much more, that is what I am going to get.... also as someone said (sorry cant remember who - was it Emmy?) I can step on a tramp, but I cant jump on a stepper!!
Lets hope I dont get motion sickness doing it while watching telly:rotfl:

  • Just re-read... Alton Towers charge for parking:eek: What a swiiiz! I'll warn my sis:rotfl:

Also... just realised Volvic strawberry water has 99 cals in a little bottle  That's the last time I buy that!!!
