I am in the process of researching for a care hire in Ireland in August. Amazingly enough the cost of hiring three car booster seats is not far off the cost of hiring the car! I've just ordered one inflatable booster seat called "bubblebum" to try out - it costs about £22 but that works out quite a lot less than hiring even for one trip.

I'm surprised to find that hiring a 7 seater (Zafira or similar) is about 3 times the price of hiring a 5 seater (Ford Focus or similar) - so any tips on how to get 6 people in a car without spending a fortune would be appreciated.

I'm looking to see if anyone has used carrental8.com to book a hire car, they seem to be much cheaper than anywhere else and include all the insurance extras as standard but i've never heard of them!

Just to report back ... I did eventually find a company (Limerick Car Hire) that was willing to include three booster seats in the rental. I have one bubblebum anyway, and if I were to go away again I would definitely take this in preference to paying £5 per day for a booster seat, which seems to be the going rate.

What is the cheapest you've found so far?

That seems ok, less than £20 per day, can you book through Quidco or Topcashback for a bit back?

  • Hi all,
I just recently rented a car from sixt through the car rental comparison website. I collected the car from Dublin airport and was travelling to N. Ireland. Because I was going to the North I was charged an additional €34.05 "due to recovery charges in the event of a breakdown" This charge is not "visible" on the Sixt website and was added when I went to collect the car. No other rental company that I have used previously have this charge. :(

Hi, any suggestions for car hire companies at Larnaca airport? We need to hire a car with 2 car seats for our twins for 9 days from 11th October next week?

Any other suggestions/advices regarding car hire in Cyprus or driving experiences will also be welcome

    Thanks :)
  • Just to slightly correct the original page / article (on drop down box 'before you start driving / can you turn right on a red'). The article says you can't do this in Canada, but you can. Certainly Ontario and Nova Scotia allow turning right on red after you've stopped, unless it says you specifically can't (except a very few roads in Toronto which has either happened, or being looked at).
