hi CG well done for closing the accounts. There will be arguments. You've betrayed and hurt your gf. But if she is willing to support you and you put the hard work and effort in to show her you want to stop then things can be repaired.

I was initially ashamed and embarassed but then someone told me i shouldnt be ashamed of admitting i have a problem that I am now dealing with.
It's true. if i said i had a problem but didnt want to do anything about it then there is reason for shame. But you have admitted it and are now doing something to help you stop. Be proud.

There's a tough road ahread but you CAN do it if you really want to x

Not much to really report today. Was really tempted by a few "good things" on football leagues worldwide Ive been doing well from but decided not to. Suprise - they both won. Oh well, it'll even itself out and given I can't control things it's not worth going down really. As I posted.

Other Dilema. Betfair offering a risk free £50 on the World Cup final. If it wins the profit is mine. If it loses the full stake is refunded. Obvious issue here is that I'd potentially get back involved. How do I counter that against it's potentially £50 or more I could add to paying my debt off?

There's a very easy way of countering it - and it's gambling related.

Get back to the basics. Risk and reward.

If you don't take the offers:
    Win - nothing
    Lose - nothing

If you do take the offer:
    Win - possibly £50
    Lose - possibly your girlfriend.

What's the smart money going to be on for this wager?

Fair point George. Think I was just looking at it in DFW mode of at least £50 to "save" IF it were a winner.

Think I maybe need to look at the availability of some 0% deals but doubt I'd get accepted - that said, HBOS are offering me one.

CG - are you being truthful here? thought you said you had closed the accounts? if you still have telephone accounts then you may want to seriously think about closing these.

sounds like you're still looking for potential bets, this can be difficult to stop, heres a couple of tips.

    1. download software that blocks gambling related sites

    2. stop buying newspapers with odds in them

    3. dont watch adverts during footy games

1 day at a time, have a plan today that keeps you away from any potential occassions when you can gamble.

you may want to go out for the day with your partner and sky + the game tonight and watch it slightly later, that way even if you were tempted then you would be too late to do anything (i've done this a few times during world cup)

have a good bet free weekend

Great posts Riq and George. I also dont understand how you could place a "risk free" bet with betfair if you have blocks on the computer and have closed all of yous accounts CG.
Is losing your girlfriend really worth a £50 bet? I think she'd be pretty upset if you said yes.

So you might win... so what... if you did you would only think you could win more anyway and you know where those thoughts got you.

Hope you managed to get through the weekend without giving in.

    Just for today...

I feel like i won the biggest prize of all yesterday when my boyfriend proposed :) although he never knew me when i gambled his does know i have a problem and accepts that i go to a meeting once a week and fully supports me. I've warned him one day i might spend all his money but have promised to always tell him if i feel like i want to bet . For him to say he will always support me but if i do that i wont be getting nice things is amazing :D
