Brilliant news about your brother paying you back George
I feel the same about money/security. I am only temping so my job could end at any time. I also dont get paid unless i am actually working so all the hospital appointments i have soon (3) in 2 weeks means i will be short in my wages again.
Still, i still have more money than i did when i was gamblingLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
That's it for me.
My cards are now at max. - I've nothing in my accounts.
Get paid on Friday - but am overdrawn, and have many bills to pay.
This is a last posting - i've had enough.Aiming to be debt-free, and have my degree, by 50 ! :j0 -
I have been online gambling for several years now. I don't want to think how much I have spent, I am guestermating at over £20000, but I really dont want to work out the exact total.
I have never told anyone. Now I am in about £10000 debt on cards, loans. I can see the end of debt in sight over the next 4-5 years, but i am very worried about the urge to set up new casino accounts and spend my entire bank balance in a few mins.
I have asked many online casinos to suspend my accounts and have downloaded 'Gamblock' as a trial to stop my loging on casino sites. Has anyone paid for the entire Gamblock program and found it stopped them gambling, or did you find other ways? I wantted to get other peoples opinions before I brought it?
2) I totaly understand that feeling my mess!0 -
Hi Jimby,
I used to pay to have gamblock on my laptop and it stopped me gambling online. (this was my downfall). However, i now have a free child block on my pc that my parents only know the password to. I dont live with them and there's no way they would ever give me it.
Gamblock worls for definite but if you are really really tempted to gamble yu can gamble anywhere. Enough people know my problem now that if they saw me at bingo/buying lottery tickets etc they would pull me away. I havent ever been tempted to do this though since Oct 06.
Good luck.
mymess.. i dont understand why you say this is your last posting? is posting on mse upsetting you? this is a thread to offer support for people who want to stop. Please post again if this applies to you xLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
Thanks cantcope.
I am very impressed by Gamblocks trial. It is about £35 for a year, but this is probably what I spend per day on Casinos online so would be a good investment.
I like your 'Child Block' idea but I have not spoken to anyone else about my gambling problem and would like to keep it quiet. If I start gambling elsewhere apart of the internet I will have to seek further help though!
Nothing in my bank, but feel like a weight has been lifted already! Looking forwards to seeing my bank in credit after 3 years of living in an overdraft!
J
I have only ever gambled online, never been into a beting shop.0 -
hi Jimby, people only know about my problem because i got to rock bottom and cried out for help. I go to GA regularly and i have faith that it helps keep me off a bet. It isn't for everyone and i think if you can tackle it yourself successfully then good for you. Just be aware that it is always there for you should you need it.
I definitely recommend putting gamblock on if you have nobody to hide a password from you on a child block. You are right. £35 isn't much at all for a year of gambling blocks. I was spending that in a minute or two near the end of my gambling.
Good luck and keep us all updated on your progress. If you feel alone, post on here, read the whole thread so you can see that you aren't the "only one".
Hope everyone else is well and having a bet free weekend. xLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
Gah!
Fell off the wagon to the tune of £600 over the weekend. No idea how I'm going to get by to payday in nearly 4 weeks time.
Feeling really sh*t about myself now.0 -
Moose!!!!
Looks like you are having serious trouble as you had something similar last month too. Are you seeking help for this or trying to tackle it yourself? What have you done to avoid the betting? Software to stop you betting, asked to be banned from the bookmaker shops? After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I am indeed having serious trouble, I spoke to a guy at GamCare yesterday, and have installed GamBlock.
I also need to get to the bookies by work to get myself self-excluded - but I'm kind of ashamed to say that to the manager ;(0 -
I know it will be hard, but it looks like you may need to do this before it gets better. Just think - this will be the only time you are embarrased by it as you won't be going in there again.
Not sure if anyone here has done this and can post up the process to make it a little more comfortable for you, but i think it is best that you take steps now so that you don't get tempted again later. As well as the gamblock, i'd email all your online accounts to get them shut down. Hopefully this will be enough. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
