O/S Daily thread for Tuesday 12th august.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning LTS and all who cross/follow,
glad to see that i`m not the only insomniac:D enjoy the olympics.

I never managed to post yesterday as the nasty pc at w*rk wouldn`t let me so belated Anniversary wishes to PenPin, hope your day was lovely.

Whatatwit - what a scary time for you and your family, i hope that your DD has learnt a lesson, glad to hear that she is safe and sound.

I was up at 4am yesterday and was on the go until almost 10pm  i daren`t stop otherwise i would have fallen asleep but have got so much done that i`m quite chuffed with myself.
After w*rk i went straight in the garden and planted some herbs (corriander & basil) and some more spring onions, radish, lettuce & mixed salad leaves.
I know that it`s quite late for some other things but i`ve shoved cabbage swede and cauli in too with some spinach and repotted the courgettes. I took some of the lower leaves off the tomatoes so that i can now see to water tham properly and thinned out the sprouts and the broccolli by about half so i hope that they survive, i also cut down a load of caterpillar infested nastertiums.

My back didn`t like all the work so i was hobbling around big time after all that so i hope that it`s recovered enough to go back out there today:D

The water mains are to be cleaned in our area over the next 4 days so i need to get organised as the water will be off and you can bet your life that i will need loads whilst the w*rk is being carried out:rolleyes: i shall fill all my pans up ready.

Off for a browse and a cuppa now so i`ll check back later to see how everyone is doing.

Have a lovely day everyone and enormous ((((HUGS)))) for you all.

    Good morning all.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Beth and her DBs, Candygirl's Dad, Essex-Girl's Dad and all who need one.

Catowen - if you are reading this, have a brilliant day and tell us all about it!

N9EAV - I hope the rain has missed you out for a change!

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, it's been pouring with rain all night. It seemed to start all of a sudden and then just got heavier and heavier. What a dreadful summer this has been, hasn't it? The most we can look forward to now is a decent autumn and a mild winter (especially now that energy prices are going through the roof). I was actually quite cold during the day yesterday; I could have put the heating on but resisted the temptation. I shall have to dig out all my warmest jumpers and cardies for the winter - the days of wandering round in short sleeves from October to April are over!

Tonight's dinner is something with sausages from my new Remoska recipe book which arrived yesterday; there's also an easy recipe for leek and potato soup which I am going to make this morning with some leeks that have seen better days.

I spent Saturday and Sunday re-charging my batteries after the wedding - I was so tired because last week was hectic, then we had the wedding and I had a continual supply of guests, some of whom stayed with us and others who booked into local b&bs and hotels but came round during the daytime. It was all lovely and sociable but exhausting at the same time! I got through loads of tea, coffee and milk and, luckily, I had batch-baked a load of bread last week so was able to keep everyone just about fed and watered. We have loads of clotted cream left which one of the BILs brought up from Devon, and DH made us a lovely clotted cream and jam sandwich last night which was yummy. We shall have to eat it all ourselves because DS1 and his family are in France and DS2 and his new wife are in Spain so we can't give it away!

Well, I'd better go and make DH's packed lunch and then jump in the shower so I'll call back later.

Morning. It rained a lot yesterday so Day 15 was easy to verify. Showers forcast for the rest of the week, so I guess we could get to 16 consecutive days of rain by tonight.

Fitted new brakes on the car last night, in between the rain, it's a people carrier so won't fit in the garage. The old brakes were completely shot, so a wonder I was able to stop at all. Routine maintainance would help!

Work this morning, 3 days left and then 2 weeks off. I am off to London for a week near the end of the month, so any tips on cheap eating out would be useful.

Well folks, have a nice day

    Morning all

Seems like the middle of the night - pouring with rain and dark as anything. the cat has thoughtfully woken me to point out he only has enough go-cat in his bowl for breakfast, and it will need a refill before lunch - there was plenty for now!

Plans for today - more ironing and sorting. Glad i cut the grass yesterday as it would be underwater today if ir wasn't on a slope!

Since i'm awake i might as well get a cuppa.......have a good day everyone, and see you all later.

    PO xx

Morning all, had a bad night again, due to painful arms, hands. I go to hosp tomorrow for a check-up on the one that I had an op on, still not 100%. They want to do an op on the left arm but think I will delay it until 2009. I have loads to do before Nov.

Have rinsed the split peas and they're now simmering. WM on. Made a list of to-do.
    Make chick/leek pie for dinner.
Look for material for windows in shower room.
2nd coat of paint on window. (didn't do it y/day)
    Put stuff on freecycle.
    Check friends house. (they're away)
Clean bathroom, stardrops here I come.
    Clean the oven.
Oh what a fun day ahead. Off for a coffee and catch up on y/days thread.

    Morning everyone,

N9eav I remember very well a really awful summer we had when I had 2 littlies. It rained solidly every day for 3 months. DH being in the construction industry came to a complete standstill  it was a thoroughly miserable time. I even managed to fall pregnant again. :D

Lovely day today though :p Went shopping this morning & got home at lunch. This arv, I made a pot of soup, loaf of bread, folded & ironed the clothes and now sorting out DGS superhero cape. The blog with the instructions has come back online. Having cheese & onion pie for tea with strawberries & icecream for dessert. I am also not Nigel no Friends on Facebook now. :D

Moiliere The bride & groom looked stunning.
fixielust :T on another win. You & Cat must have nine lives.

<hugs> to those not well or down. Will pop back later, I better go and water DH's veggies. :D Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Beth - good luck with the hospital tomorrow. You sound as if you are doing too much these days; you really must take it easy because the arm that was operated on is still recovering. Try and take a couple of days rest!

I must have a go at adding OSers to my Facebook but I don't really understand Facebook and just end up wandering around then logging off!

    See you later.
